So, when playing music in the Spotify phone app, you'll see the current song's album art front and center, but at the edge of the screen you'll see these thin slivers of the left or right edges of the cover art of adjacent songs in the playlist:
Sometimes I'll try to guess what the next album is based just on that small piece of the album artwork. Today I thought: hey, this could be turned into a game!
Rules: crop off a thin vertical slice of an album cover, and have people try to guess what the artist and album are. (Guessing just the artist by itself is fine, too; sometimes the album name is hard to remember.) You can use the left and right edges to make the game harder, but it's fine to crop a strip of a point in between the two also. Width-wise, something like 5%-10% of the width of the cover is a good range. The albums themselves can be well-known or obscure, up to you. Edit your original post with the winners. You can reply to individual guessers, but it can make a mess of the thread. If a couple hours have passed, you can fill in the remaining unsolved covers.
Some examples to get things started (these are just left and right edges):
RESULTS:
1. Drake/Future - What a Time to Be Alive guessed by Cesare Borgia
2. Duran Duran - Rio guessed by thebeeks
3.
4. Goldfrapp - Tales of Us (Deluxe) guessed by blame space
5. The Strokes - Angles guessed by Salsa
6. Tyler, the Creator - Wolf guessed by Cesare Borgia
7.
8. Mew - +/- guessed by Dead
9. Skrillex - Bangarang guessed by Fandangox
10. Frank Ocean - Channel Orange guessed by tim.mbp
