Police, some armed with assault rifles, moved in slowly behind the man, who was dressed in black and faced the Capitol from a plaza below its west entrance. Crouching behind the wall, the police sprang up and ran at the man, who never moved.

He was tackled by two policemen, dragged to an ambulance and taken away. Police left the suitcases behind.

INS Division 6, bitches. What you know about that!?

Huh so what did he do? Did they get a tip or is dressing in black next to the capitol bulding grounds for a S.W.A.T beat down now?

After reading the story, I can see whay the police would be suspicious, but not call out the SWAT team.

I probably would have had him taken in for questioning or even just question him in the back of a police car. Not go through all that.

To be fair, would they really tell the public this guy had a suitcase full of terrorism ready to kill the spread of freedom? I mean really, how would make victory look?

There's some details missing, but it seems like he passively resisted arrest. Given the stigma of guys in trenchcoast, suitcases, and political offices i'm not surprised they took the route he did.

Bad ass. We need more people like him in our cause. Calm, cool, collected. And these bumbling idiots tackle him. He's harmless they say, but they can't see in code like he does, can they?

Just stand there when they give orders I guess

Yeah, the guy was clearly acting strange. Normal people don't just ignore police officers with machine guns screaming at them. He was no terrorist, but you don't go around dressing suspiciously, carrying suspicious bags and making odd comments about the president and bags in Washington DC.

"He only would say at first that he wanted to speak to the president," the chief said.

"He said that if we wanted to know what was in the suitcase, we would have to open it ourselves," Gainer said.

Read the article before you start crying about some innocent guy getting hauled away needlessly.

And that's a crime is it?

it is when your "strange behavior" can be perceived as a threat to others, especially prominent politicians. Look, I'm about as liberal as they come, but there is clearly a "common sense" line that people shouldn't be crossing (and dressing all in black, including a trench coat, and carrying around a suitcase while mumbling about the president while ignoring police officers nearby is pretty far over that line).

So if he was dressed in red, white and blue, with a US flag draped over his shoulder, carrying a bunch of flowers and a present and asking for the president and he also happened to be a bit hard of hearing that would also be a crime?

Face it, this dude is a legend. By doing nothing other than standing there with a few bags he had idiot police scrambling around like crazy shouting 'suicide bomber'. I think I have a new personal hero.

Pretty low threshold for heroism then, hm?

If he was carrying a package for the President and refused to let anyone see it, he would have been taken down accordingly. I don't see why this is such a big deal. He was probably just about to bust out his bullet-time movements, but the cops are so quick these days.

Money says that when read his charges, he said, "How about I give you the finger, and you give me my call? You can't scare me with this gestapo bullshit."

Hey, if you want to go up to some secret service or police agents in DC, carrying unmarked bags and demanding to speak to the president, be my guest. Just don't blame me when you get the beat down too.

sorry, i might be being a dumb ass, but how do you "passively resist arrest"???

you think about not wanting to go to jail... us black guys do it everytime we see a cop...don't tell anyone

Oh no! The agents have Neo!!!!
Heelarious. I love it.

I saw this on the news at 5 today before I left work. I joked "Maybe he was a tourist on his first visit to the US and Washington and just wanted to take it all in?!"

"Ahh.. America. For years I save so that one day I may come here. Today is that day.. WHAT THE?"

Funny, they take the man, but leave what could possibly be THE BOMB where it is. If I were that guy and I were a terrorist, I would probably make it go off at a certain time anyway. And if I were smarter, make it so if I am removed from the cases, they would go off.. Would serve the police right not to leave them there. I mean, really, would they have done this had he not had the cases??

Did they look in the cases yet? I bet it's flowers and candy. (At least that's what I'd put in it if I were this guy, but not a terrorist rather just a joker who wanted to speak to Dubya.

I understand they blew apart the suit cases. I believe there was a cd player in there amongst other personal belongings.
