I'm on number 11 right now, totally surprised me, I thought it wouldn't be that great but it's pretty awesome :D

This album should be called "12 Songs From a Nu-Metal Perspective by APC". Seriosuly, it's got quite nu metal vibe going on. Maynard get the fuck back to Tool. Mer De Noms was great but what the fuck is with this shite.

...nah, it's alright, but uh, nothing remarkable whatsoevr unfortunately, IMO.

Maynard is back with Tool now :) there is gonna be a chat with the Tool Members at ToolArmy on October 27th. A transcript will be after at www.toolband.com - Maybe we'll get some new album updates!

'meh' sums up my opinion of eMOTIVe pretty well

I loved the first two APC albums, but this just doesn't do anything for me.

Good god! I have loved just about everything from Manyard but this is pure suckage, all the political and hippie lyrics dont help anything at all. I hope the new TOOL album doesnt follow suit. *Crosses fingers*

I won't hold this against them because it's a cover album. But Thirteenth Step is average at best, and emotive is pretty bad. I really hope APC's next studio album picks up where Mer de Noms left off, because it is an incredible album.

The Pet remix (Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums) and When the Levee Breaks are great songs.

Tool are in a league of their own compared to APC, don't worry about that. No more APC, more Tool damnit! Hoping for some news on the new album in the next coming months :)

I couldn't help it so I downloaded a bit. Howerdel's vocals on 'Freedom of Choice' and 'People are People' are great. Both I enjoy quite a bit, they added some interesting twists. I'm definately going to pick this up on release. I'm really looking forward to Howerdel's solo stuff now, he has a great style.

EDIT: Wow, I'm REALLY digging this actually. The shifts in styles from track to track is great. If APC could release something like this of all original material I'd be VERY pleased.

Complete and utter shite.

That's what this album is.

Quit screwing around Maynard and gimme more Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step.

Basically, the only purpose this CD has for me is replacing some of the shitty tracks on 13th Step.

I like passive, but if the tapeworm project turned out to be a bunch of songs like passive the album would’ve been a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.

I've had 2 days to digest the album and I must say that it wins for being mellow and a good way to introduce some Maynard to your diet at 2am when you are just chilling with a lady friend ;)

I find peace love and understanding (anyone else feel some of the Noose in that song?) to be the best song on the album, followed by the Pet remix. The worst two would definitely be when the level breaks (very sad) and fiddle and the drum (must be a joke)

Maynard, I love you and I love you more. Thank god for tool and thank god for Adam Jones who is quickly becoming more of my hero in the band than you are. It is almost like APC took a wrong direction giving Maynard more creative control. Don't get my wrong Maynard is a genius but I swear the "EGO" took over after the mer de noms era ended. Twiggy, you go from antifuckingchrist superstar to peace love and understanding. Shame...Shame...

I still can't say how much control Maynard has. It should be Howerdel's decision in the end I wouldn't be surprised if most of Emotive was thought out by Howerdel. Maynard seems to have a very nominal presence in it despite being on vocals for "most" of the songs. The Bikini Bandits idea for "The Outside" was most likely Maynard's stupid ass. Maynard has seemed to have an 'ego' problem at least (and especially) in recent interviews.

But as previously stated Maynard would not be allowed to have such flexibility in Tool. Maybe this is just an outlet to do stupid things and experiment more.

Maynard was the excutive producer on 13th step. I think he took TOTAL control of that album. I believe billy has been quoted with "I gave maynard music, he didn't like it and/or only took the parts HE liked"

Good point. He did. However the music was made by Billy and presented by him. Maynard chose some odd choices to follow up on 'Mer De Noms' but I liked 13th step a lot too.

Billy needs to regain control of his band, then. I don't like where APC is headed one fucking bit. I'll be damned if my boys James, Jeordie and Josh end up getting screwed out of another great band.

I feel Maynard has spread himself too thin. 13th step in 2003, Emotive 2004 + Soundtrack work, and then back to Tool for a most definite release in 2005.

Well, I'm afraid APC won't be in the hands of Billy much more. I think he's going to concentrate on his solo stuff and the next APC album (if there will ever be another - I have a strange feeling this is it) will be a collaborative effort (hopefully with EQUAL representation)

I don't feel Maynard is stretching himself too thin since APC and Tool are completely different at this rate. The so soon release of Emotive is an unnecessary rush (and product altogether - I never care for cover albums) But Tool's members haven't done anything since '01 and will regenerize themselves come next release (and 2005 is not yet a definite in my book)

no, it's a very true to the original cover. download the joni mitchell original. it doesn't make it good, but it is an exact cover.

and yeah, my money's on APC never releasing another album.

:lol Ok, I don't know if you were talking about Thirteenth Step as well, of if you said that strictly because of Emotive. If you were saying that based only on Emotive, then don't even read this next part.

But, if you were basing that off of Thirteenth Step as well...I'm sorry dude...but shut the fuck up. You make it seem like Maynard wrote every song and he forced them all to go along with it. There was only one major dispute on Thirteenth Step, and that was over The Noose. And guess what? The Noose is most people's favorite song on the CD.
Hell, two of the songs were written by the original APC with Troy and Paz. Thirteenth Step was the entire band's decision, not a Maynard "YOURE GONNA PLAY IT AND YOURE GONNA LIKE IT" deal.

But again, if you were just talking about Emotive, 'sall good. I just like to look at Emotive as soley a "get out of the record contract" move. At least, I pray it was. Otherwise it's a good thing APC will most likely never release another CD.

The only problem I have with 13th Step is the fillers and the really draggy songs. I love "The Noose" too. And I was only commenting to Megafoos reply on how Maynard controlled the creation of 13th Step, which irked me because I was afraid it'd eventually lead to the demise of the band (much like what happened to SP). More or less my comment did revolve around Emotive. Some of the covers could've been done much more tactfully, especially Depeche Mode's. And you told me to shut the fuck up. I don't like it when you drink. You made me cry... :'(

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
:lol I wasn't even drinking yet.

But it's cool. Yeah, Emotive is a mediocre release at best. Better than I thought, but yeah...it's not all that good.
But Thirteenth Step was great.

I still <3 you Alpha

They haven't butchered Imagine at all. If you listen to the song carefully, it's quite the opposite of the original and it's meant to be that way. Imagine from Lennon gave us hope, Imagine from APC gives us despair.

RedDwarf

Smegging smeg of a smeg!
I like APC and I like cover albums, but so far this is really not growing on me. There are more cringe inducing moments than good tracks. The horrors that are Peace, Love and Understanding, Imagine and the sucking of any soul out of Gimme Gimme Gimme are all unforgivable sins. Bad Maynard!

Making When the Levee Breaks this weak should be a crime.
