It's cool... but I dunno.... It doesn't seem like 5 years has been long enough to give it that paint-peeling creepiness you see in some dead malls, Chernobyl area, Hashima island, etc.

This video wasn't great. Everything was in good condition. It just looked like the park was closed for winter or something.

Park was flooded for over a month, the salt water basically destroyed all the rides except for Batman. The would have to demolish it all and remake the whole park pretty much.

huge pic so I'm only gonna link here, but it is underwater

holy crap! that's fucking nuts. and this video was definitely creepy. the music is phenomenal and set an excellent tone. it was beautifully shot and does show that in 5 years it can really go to shit fast.

It was also a brand new park. I think it opened around 2000 or so and was bought by Six Flags just a few years before Katrina hit.

Most of the rides have simply been moved to other parks. It's inverted steal coaster is now in San Antonio.

Batman was only ride that got moved from what I remember, they took apart some salvageable components to be used in other parks. But so far the city of New Orleans is claiming it all belongs to them and nothing can be removed since Six Flags is trying to back out of it's lease of the land. They made a fuss when Batman ride got taken away.

I think the way the video opens (with the "closed for storm" sign) really sets the tone. You almost get the feeling they had no idea just how bad it would be.

Two of my favourite things: Godspeed You! Black Emperor and abandoned urban areas. This video is great!

I don't see why we simply have to abandon them. It's a waste.

Probably because the amount of money needed to put into the park isn't worth it for the company, especially since Six Flags filled for bankruptcy last year.

uhh what? pretty much everything had been destroyed. by good condition do you mean still standing and being able to tell what things used to be?

Left 4 Dead 2

These parks are in way worst condition than Whispering Oaks. I bet a campaign set in that Japanese amusement park would be ultra creepy.

Forgot what it was called, but there was this one abandoned park in Asia where it got closed down after some little girl fell off a ride and died, and said ride was still left the same way it was, titled track car and all... *shudder*

OH MY GOD

this is the perfect setting for my zombie apocalypse theme park

how much you think it'd run me :lol

I thought Nickeloden was supposed to make a park out of this?

So depressing though, Six flags must of thought the cost of repair wouldn't be worth it. Love how they just..leave it then.
