Ok. This Bush shit has gotten me thinking lately, and I don't like what it comes down to. Quite frankly, I don't know why CONSERVATIVES aren't the ones bitching about this, and not me. But if any of you have an extra gun and a "Don't Tread on me" flag, might wanna slide it on over to me.

Ok. Hurricane Katrina happens. Bush is horribly late in responding to it, and everyone believes that it's just him bumbling. When he does finally respond, everyone is so desparate for help that we happily allow martial law to be declared with the military... it's an emergency. An erroneous event, really, right?

Then he gets John Roberts elected to the Chief Justice. Nobody really challenges him, and he's put onto the Supreme Court without anyone really truly knowing his opinions on anything. Now he's going to put Miers on the court, too, if he can. Another person whom we really know nothing about. This is on top of the fact that the link between Bush and Scalia/Thomas is pretty strong. Everyone knows that. Basically if Miers gets put through, the court is packed by Bush. This isn't a historical rarity by any means, but here's the one thing that isn't a historical pattern.

The newest rumblings out of Washington about Bush trying to overturn the Posse Comitatus Act. Simply put? He's given the power to use the military domestically whenever he believes an emergency has broken out. With his own court, this will go over just fine if it even GETS to the Supreme Court. This is also added to the Patriot Act, which he can now use as legal precedent for sacrificing national individual rights for his need to protect us. And of course, when he advertises this, everyone will think of Katrina and how much 'relief' the military brought once they got there.

I dunno. This is seeming a little bit too coincidental to me. I don't mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist here or anything, but you do have to admit that these events unfolding like this, with Bush essentially ignoring his poll numbers as well (yeah he's given a few more speeches, but hasn't backed down on anything that was causing his low numbers), is starting to get a little worrisome.

Isn't this bugging anyone else? This isn't just me slamming Bush because of party stumping or whatever. This is me calling out to people to maybe pay a bit more attention and worry about it themselves. Nothing bad ever came from worrying. Very bad things came from not worrying enough.

Like I said though.... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and just assume I'm looking way too far into things. But it's still kinda scary...

Another side issue I saw on network news tonight is Bush saying that potential military assisted Quarentines may be neccisary to combat any Bird Flu outbreaks.....

Needless to say this has me worried.

and stack on the talk about how he's toying with the idea of passing legislation so that in case of an emergency an election can be postponed indefinitely... :(

"Starting to get a little worrisome"? Have a seat & join the club, we've been meeting here for years about once a hour, sometimes more frequently. Refreshments and owls are over in the corner.

:lol sorry. you were asking for it.

Of all the stupid 'Net trends, I kinda like the owls. I just wish there were more than 3 of those things.

Naming the thread after a book series probably wasn't the best way to get responses.

Anyway, this push for opening up military use on American soil is yet another worrying concept from the Bush administration, especially since it's using a lot of the same logic as the Patriot Act crap.

-------------------

President Bush, today, on the avian flu: "We need to know, on a real-time basis, the facts, so the world's scientific community could analyze the facts."

Just like global climate change, right?

-------------------

Scott McClellan: "The Department of Defense would assume the responsibility for the situation, and come in with an overwhelming amount of resources and assets, to help stabilize the situation."

Riiiiight. I don't fucking trust the DoD with handling Iraq, why the hell would I trust them in my backyard?

Dude, you need to see the owl frenzy! http://owlfrenzy.ytmnd.com/

And yeah, Bush ratings are at an all time low, but he still has the seat for the next three years and a majority in congress for at least one more year. Buckle up, its going to be a ride to hell on earth!

:lol holy shit... I just had a conservative tell me that he blames this on the liberals. "You weren't satisfied with the Katrina response, so now he's going to use the best beauracracy we have."

FIX THE OTHER FUCKING AGENCIES! Christ almighty...
