Background

A team of explorers is claiming that they have found the legendary metal library and various other treaures and ancient objects in the Tayos Cave system in Ecuador.

In what maybe one of the biggest discoveries ever, a team of explorers is claiming that they have found the legendary golden library and other mysterious treasures in the Tayos Cave system in Ecuador. The team announced that they accidentally found some hidden tunnels that were obviously dug out artificially sometime in the ancient past while inside one of the main chambers. The team was able to follow one of these tunnels for approximately ½ mile and came upon a large room containing the golden library and various other treasures. Below is a list of what the explorers claim to have found in this chamber:

  • A library with thousands of metal books. The team was unable to specify what metal the books were made of but the look was similar to silver. Each page had symbols and strange writing on them.
  • Individual plates with writing on them and strange symbols that looked to be made of gold.
  • At least several hundred statues of insects, animals and humans spread throughout the large chamber.
  • Lots of metal bars thought to be both gold and/or silver. Also found were various children’s toys and jewelry items made from gold or silver.
  • One large sarcophagus containing one human skeleton decorated with jewels and golden jewelry.
  • The team also found at least three doors that could be more tombs but were sealed completely shut.

As of right now, the team has only announced their findings onto a radio show and no other announcements have been made so the jury is still out as too whether their claims are completely true. The team did claim to have samples of at least one of the metal books, one golden plate and several small statues that they will be submitting to professional testing so hopefully this will give us answers shortly.

The team would not reveal the location of this incredible finding only saying that it is part of the Tayos Cave system. The explorers claim that they have concealed the location once again to make sure no one else locates the treasure until they get their samples tested. Once testing is complete, they agreed on the radio program to bring in a large professional team to fully excavate the site as long as they were part of it and were not robbed of their findings.

No one brought along a digital camera, video camera, or smartphone to take video or pictures? Disposable camera?

They probably just found one of Scientology's underground bunkers, like the one in Trementina, New Mexico. There, they keep copies of the complete works of L.Ron Hubbard inscribed on stainless steel tablets and encased in titanium capsules. Sounds like "metal books" to me! Don't know about the insect statues, though.

Might be fake you say?

Copied from wiki's entry on the cave:

The Gold of the Gods
The cave was popularized by Erich von Däniken's 1973 book The Gold of the Gods, in which he wrote that Juan Moricz had claimed to have explored Cueva de los Tayos in 1969 and discovered mounds of gold, unusual sculptures and a metallic library. These items were said to be located within artificial tunnels that had been created by a lost civilization with help from extraterrestrial beings. Von Däniken had previously stirred public imagination by suggesting that extraterrestrials were involved in ancient civilizations in his popular book Chariots of the Gods?.
[edit]The 1976 Expedition
As a result of the claims published in von Däniken’s book, an investigation of Cueva de los Tayos was organized by Stan Hall from Britain in 1976. One of the largest and most expensive cave explorations ever undertaken, the expedition included over a hundred people, including experts in a variety of fields, British and Ecuadorian military personnel, a film crew, and former astronaut Neil Armstrong. The team also included eight experienced British cavers who thoroughly explored the cave and conducted an accurate survey to produce a detailed map of the cave. There was no evidence of Von Däniken’s more exotic claims, although some physical features of the cave did approximate his descriptions and some items of zoological, botanical and archaeological interest were found.

I love listening to conspiracy theories though I rarely take them seriously...so I listened to most of this. The end, where the theory suddenly jumps out of nowhere to the fact that this Father Crespi dude (http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/arqueologia/cueva_tayos02.htm) is actually Hitler with plastic surgery after he fled Germany. OMG...I was rolling.

I knew this was an Meus thread before even shifting my eyes to the thread maker column.

That said, i've already listened to this MU episode, even though I don't remember it too clearly, I recall them exposing the legitimacy of the guy involved in it all, no?

Same here, that's why I listen to MU in the first place. It's entertaining and sometimes insightful. Plus they're usually pretty good at calling something bullshit when it is (which is a lot of the time :lol).

I like how there are similar cases with huge cave systems filled with treasure and yet we haven't had any hard evidence at all. When I was listening this podcast all I could think was that this is all too good to be true.
