I actually thought Civil War was decent.

It was good, I went to a screening where Garland did a Q&A which makes it stand out in my mind a little more, perhaps, but I'm surprised that it was pretty big news, good reviews and tickets sales, but rarely referred to now.

I can't even begin to describe how sick I am of the family at home. Or backflashes to the wife and husband looking at eachother under the blanket and smiling. Spare me. The worst parts in Godzilla with Aaron Taylor-Johnson were the family. Movies like Alien and The Thing show that you don't need to know about the characters' families and personal lives. Just put great characters in an interesting setting and situation and go from there.

How else to get any significant number of women into the casts of these projects? War is, and will always be, 99% dudes. It's a topic almost exclusively interested in by dudes, its all about dudes, and quite frankly it's insulting to the dudes who went out and did it when they shoehorn in chicks, (especially replacing historic men with women) usually the sniper or something where the dainty little actress doesn't have to actually carry anything.

Clearly there are exceptions for sci-fi/fantasy, but for anything remotely historic or grounded, that's the way it has to be. Sure you can find some isolated examples of women in combat in the real world, but those are so unique they are BY DEFINITION the "example that proves the rule". And if they DO cast women to play combat soldiers, modelled after the real examples, then AT LEAST cast women who know their guns, know their tactics, and have a BODY that reflects rucking, crawling, and fighting.

I didn't realize Alex Garland was credited as a director.. In the trailer I saw, it sounded like they were intentionally wording it so that people would think he was the director when he really wasn't. I was already interested, but now I really want to see it.

Yes, thats the entire point of the movie, and its fucking awesome because of it. No stupid side story with the wife and kids back home. No cutting to generals giving orders with a room full of people on a computer screens. Just soldiers in battle, and thats it. This movie just drops you into the middle of a war.

Its probably the most realistic War film ever made. I loved it. You guys need to see it on a giant screen.

The Outpost WAS the best I've seen until I watched Warfare. Though it's two different settings and both are very much worth watching.

There were a couple of women that were in my theater, with each other. VERY surprised, thought I had gone into the wrong theater for a minute. Maybe they were vets or yellow ribbon though.

Just got finished watching my second viewing of Warfare, it is honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen. It has the best audio I've ever heard and it's frigging brutal!

Not many movies leave me overwhelmed but twice this has!

If you've seen civil war and enjoyed the last 15 minutes or whatever when it's amazing this is definitely your cup of tea!

My ears are ringing again the sound was so loud in the dolby cinema.

The most 10 out 10 movie I've rated in years!

I watched this the other night on Amazon Prime. It's unrelenting and intense from start to finish. The visual direction is really good, captures the chaos well and the humanity of combat. The sound design is fucking brilliant, it immerses you into brutal reality. I highly recommend giving this a watch if you're on the fence. A proper harrowing depiction of war.
