Top left of the screen is fucked up and the phone doesn't even turn on 70% of the time

Not threadworthy, but what phones would you guys recommend? I'm planning on getting a xiaomi since they're cheap and nice

Used Galaxy is nearly as good as a new Galaxy, and much muuuuuuch less expensive. Don't buy Chinese.

Poor phone :messenger_pensive:.

It makes me sad, he was your inseparable companion, and on his first day he thought he was the best... now he will be discarded and forgotten... replaced, my soul is break for the poor phone.

If you are going to replace it, ask for a Huawei or a Samsung.

Fortunately he has a nice life with my father, whenever he gets me a new phone he takes the old one and gives it to someone else or repairs it.
Phoneboy will have a nice rest of his life, get his wounds patched up hopefully

Depends on your budget really. The latest Pixels have been getting some positive buzz, or a 1-2 years old Samsung Flagship is also usually decently priced option.
This is just anecdotal but ever since working retail a couple of years ago I don't trust Chienese phones. They've got nice specs for low prices but we used to get a lot of issues and returns with brands like Huawei and Xiaomi. Reviews are generally useless in terms of durability because most reviewers will just use the phones for a couple of days and base their reviews on that.

This joke made my day. Maybe a Mandella memory but I recall that advert showing at like 85 + dbs (prior to having a DVR to skip) and rushing to turn down the volume.

OP, Xiaomi but I picked up a Galaxy A32 5G which wasn't too pricey, solid build and costs a fraction of the S series.

I've owned a huawei p20 pro, p30 pro, p40 pro and a xiaomi 11s ultra. I upgrade every year then pass them on to family and never had any issues with any of them.

Low budget?

A used Samsung or iPhone then. If you want something new, then a Samsung A series, Sony 10 IV, or a Nokia X series or XR series. Fairphone are worth a look too (3 or 4).

I'm not recommending Chinese brands for various reasons.

Not really sure about Pixels. The camera software is great, but most are still quite expensive and several have had issues. Not great battery life either.

They are cheap, and they will slow to a crawl in 6-9 months, plus lack of updates, plus Zhong Xina thanks you for letting him spy on you.

Get the cheapest iPhone, much better than anything on Android + it will last you much longer so that electronics landfill will be a bit smaller.

I have an iPhone which I really like but yeah they definitely aren't cheap. If I had to get a new phone and it couldn't be iPhone i'd probably go with a Pixel 6A or even a Pixel 7. My previous phone was a Pixel and I really liked it. If not Google then next would be Samsung. I'd get something like a S21 FE or S22. I've had Galaxy A phones before and they are quite good. The A53 seems like a decent phone which would be in the same price range as the Pixel 6A.

I've seen a lot of people with Xiaomi phones but I've never used them.

Weren't they bought by oppo?
They've been related to Oppo forever basically. The dude who founded Oneplus used to work at Oppo. Oppo was a shareholder/investor in Oneplus who used Oppo designs, made some tweaks, and slapped the Oneplus band on them. Whenever Oppo had a new phone you could look at it and be like well there's the next Oneplus phone! Last year both Oneplus and Oppo merged. They now share the same hardware development team and OxygenOS + ColorOS have been combined but OxygenOS is still used exclusively on Oneplus phones outside China. ColorOS is used for both Oneplus + Oppo devices in China.

I quite liked my old Pixel (3A XL). Battery life was not great but was not bad at all. Camera on it was brilliant and getting new Android updates first was nice.

The new Pixel 6A looks quite good I think. It's currently £399 but Pixel phones usually go on sale often. I remember when I bought my 3A XL for £420 and it was down to £310 a week later lol. The new 7 series just came out too.

Xiaomi phones are the most value for money phones and the MIUI Android they have is far better than stock Android without any performance hits. Having said that, it's very possible that you'll be spied on by both American and Chinese governments instead of just the former in regular Android but you could just root your phone and install AFWall+ or something similar to block all that shit, Android is spyware anyway.

I'm in America and I imported a xiaomi 11s ultra. Such an awesome phone even my iPhone friends were impressed with it and it's picture quality compared to their 13 pros. Unfortunately, I broke it now I have a Vivo x80 pro which takes even better night photos but overall I preferred my xiaomi.

Galaxy phones.

I can't count how many times i've dropped it and not even a crack.
my last galaxy phone i dropped off the side of a bed so not even a 2ft drop. the back glasses was completely shattered but i managed to get a replacement back panel and fix it.

i guess it's just your luck how the phone lands and what it lands on. i can't remember what flooring it was but it as hotel room so not like it was on concrete or anything lol.

I recently switched to iPhone after a decade of android phones. The mini suited me perfectly as had been getting sick of oversized phones. I don’t mind at all the lack of customisation, the simplicity and elequence seems to suit me much better. More importantly, I haven’t noticed one bit of slowdown browsing online as I would always disable any Google services on my android, my infuriating captcha checks that I was receiving constantly have immediately disappeared, and I can also browse YouTube ad free with safari or similar browser. Considering I also have a Mac don’t see myself ever going back to android.

Get it repaired, Op. With a bit of skill, you can change the display yourself.

If not: The Samsung M-Series (in some countries exclusive on Amazon) are great. Wife and son are using them. Big 4,000 battery, so great daily life. And cheap with around 250€

Myself, as I hate Android (iPhone user since the first one), would just buy a refurbished or used older model. I’ll never buy a new iPhone again (last one at launch was the iPhone 5 and I dropped it the second day, lol).

Xiaomi are good. For a cheap android phone with decent specs. Or go with what ever you can price wise.
