ABC News/WaPo Poll: 6 months in, record low job approval for Trump(36-58)

Stinkles

Clothed, sober, cooperative
He knows the poll numbers are accurate, or close to it, and it's eating him alive inside. Just like how he now touts the economic numbers that were fake under Obama but real now. How must it feel to him that the only real thing he can cling to he inherited from the President he spent 8 years demeaning.

He's never been above water on popular numbers, and ironically his handlers and masters lost control of whatever their shitty incompetent plan was by not realizing how astonishingly vain he is. About half of the things he's drawn needless attention to are because he couldn't shut up about popularity.

Haha this is so crazy to me too with the way Republicans were doing everything to wash their hands of Bush just a few years ago. When will they grow a spine and start jumping ship on this clown?

And Howard Stern warned us about this all the way back in November. Trump's entire basis for living is to be loved and the fact that he's so hated now is what's driving him insane. It's only going to get worse as the walls really start closing in around him due to the multiple investigations into his campaign. It's hard to remember that he hasn't even been placed under any real pressure yet due to how incompetent he's been in just handling the day to day functions of being in office.

as long as this is true 2018 is still looking bad:

Yeah... I feel like this is more a PR problem than an actual problem. Of course there's infighting, dems and GOP aren't monolithic groups as a country as large as America having only 2 viable parties doesnt mean people only hold two sets of ideals and patterns of thinking and nothing else...

Maybe the reason you and others think this is because Trump's whole platform thus far has JUST been to dismantle every achievement of the dem pres before him. So dems of course are pushing to stop and reverse that. What progress is there when the person in office is ONLY trying to dismantle everything you've achieved thus far. You're forced to play defense.

Once they have to face their own re-elections. Right now the base still likes Trump, so sticking to him is probably a good move to protect themselves from getting primaried. Once they are on the tickets for the midterms and they start seeing polling you'll see people start to move.

Almost half of all Americans (48 percent) see the country’s leadership in the world as weaker since Trump was inaugurated, compared with 27 percent who say it is stronger.

Ok, those 27 percent have to be his absolute basement. They're the Baghdad Bobs of the populace.

Pretty much. It's a very shaky house of cards. Once the GOP sees tangible evidence that supporting/turning a blind eye to Trump hurts their re-election chances more than it helps, they will turn on him.

Even some of those will slip away if things carry on like thid over the next few years. Imagine if the dems take back the house. Look at how much trouble he is having getting shit done with every branch of government essentially on his side.

People in the GOP speaking out against Trump right now are almost instantly seeing money from GOP donors going to towards adverts attacking them. No one is going to budge until after they get past their primaries.

Frustrating as that is.

Right. A Republican-controlled Congress would most likely never impeach a Republican president, but if they decided to do it, they'd do it after primaries but before the general elections. That way, they get on the ticket and get to distance themselves from the president.

40% is really bad at this time.

The next 4 lowest at this point in time is Ford at 41%, Clinton at 45%, W. Bush at 51%, and Obama at 55%.

And you don't want Ford approval numbers unless you want to be a one term president, which I guess trump actually might want.

Yep. "Check out these awesome numbers!!!! (if you like them)

but also.... "Check out these phony numbers!!!! (if you hate them)

I mean... isn't that essentially what both sides do? Literally each side denounced each other's statistics... It's just pretty pronounced on this site what side gaf leans to.

More like half-term, I hope.

Statistics is a mathematical field with no political affiliation and polls like this have been taken since the dawn of print.

Stop.

Fantastic great definition... you understand people LIE through the media all the time right? As in, all the numbers that an objective formula will give you, aren't necessarily the ones that they report.. you do understand that right?

These numbers are historically terrible.

People can spin them any which way that makes them feel better. Reality is still a thing though.

You do understand that the media was within 1% correct on what the result of the popular vote would be in the last presidential election, right?

You do understand that even Fox News with its hilarious Trump bias comes up with similar numbers in its own polling, right?

You realize that these same networks reported on various other republican presidents that had much better numbers in these very polls, right?

You do understand that the people that are most likely to lie to you are the ones that rant about the mainstream media and try to indoctrinate you into believing that there are no facts, right?

Do you have numbers from a more accurate or, in your view, less biased source that you would like to present?

Because you further the discussion by doing what kess did by presenting information that the statistics aren't as Trump negative as they seem.

You halt discussion and hijack the thread and its intent when your first post boils down to "mainstream media."

I'm gonna guess he's not coming back.
