Could someone subjectively like the world in AC Shadows more than the one in RDR2, for sure. Would these people claim that AC Shadows world "curbstomps" RDR2's open world, I don't think many people would.

I really hope this is a joke.
I'm loving Assassin's Creed Shadows and it's probably the best game I've played since Astro Bot last year but this comparison is absurd.
Shadows has so many weak points, so many. The story, the quest design, some of the side content, the repetitiveness, arguably the combat and so on just to name a few.
Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still the benchmark in so many areas of a video game. The story, characters, voice acting, soundtrack, open world, side content and so much more are still leagues above any other game ever made.

AC Shadows is a run-of-the-mill Ubisoft open world; it hasn't superseded any prior games. It's just more of the same.
RDR2 is the greatest, most alive open world we have had, and it still hasn't been topped. I would genuinely question the authenticity of anyone who has played both and choosing AC.
they are checklist games nothing wrong with that, but that shouldn't be how we measure open worlds and their quality.
