I don't think Acclaim ever went completely out of business. I think they just shut down a few of their studios. I wouldn't be surprised to see them rise from the ashes once more.

No, Acclaim went out of business. All of their assets have been sold (or up for sale) by their accountants, including the name. There was some gossip a few weeks ago about someone trying to buy the name etc.

Someone purchased the name. Why someone would want it im not sure. All acclaim ever did that was any good was the wrestling games. Turok was an average game in a sea of crap so it looked great by comparison only.

They were at their best in 16 bit era when they released great games like Alien 3, NBA Jam, Super Smash Tv, Arch Rivals and MKII on consoles. Everyone knows them from Turok series though, which was ok.
