I am not a Millennial and I am far from a typical Johnson supporter*, but I would say the "socially liberal, fiscally conservative" generalization of Libertarians is appealing to the group of Millennials who would have been Republicans back in the Alex P. Keaton days.

What? Most Millennials were toddlers during the height of Family Ties. Alex Keaton is solidly a Gen X character.

I'm a minority from a low-income background - me & mine are fucked regardless of who wins the office.

Explain how as a Sanders supporter you now support a libertarian.

Explain that.

You could not choose two people further apart from each other and for that reason all it tells people is that you have no real values and are acting out of pure emotion.

Or they actually support Libertarian policies?

I guess if it isn't what you believe in, it's "trash"?

No, it's trash because it's trash. I mean, good fuck almighty, this is party where the majority of the nominees didn't even believe you needed any kind of license to drive vehicles. Libertarian policies and candidates within it are basically in fantasy la-la land.

They rejected those candidates and picked Johnson and Weld instead. If Johnson and Weld were elected by a miracle, their loyalty would be to the moderate voters they are appealing to, not to some crazies who showed up to lose an internal vote at a libertarian convention.

Here's the latest CNN/ORC poll: http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/26/politics/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-colorado-pennsylvania-polls/

Here's their underlying data: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2016/images/09/26/relco1.pdf

Go to page 9 for the age breakdown, which looks like this:

The "Under 45" category shows 24% for Johnson, which while perhaps unusually high, is much lower than what you have in the OP. I think you probably just misheard.

(As a side note, the "N/A"s for 18-34 (millennials) mean that there weren't enough members of that subgroup to give a sampling error of less than +/- 8.5%. We can draw some conclusions about what this poll found about their support for Johnson, given the lower support in the 35-49 age group, but nothing hard given the large sampling error involved.)

Given that this seems to be based on mishearing something, I'm locking the thread.
