Trying to update the reference files for either ad-aware or spybot results in an error. Anyone know how to fix this? It's buggin the hell outa me considering i have website links on my desktop i didn't put there. Ugh.

Uh.. did you reinstall and try again?

My Spybot's fine but as of a few days ago I couldn't get the reference files from Ad-Aware either. I just figured it was a server error. I'd reinstall Ad-aware but I'm not too worried about it (no pc invasion

Downloading the new ad-aware build (1.05) fixed the problem. And i have a SHITLOAD of spyware on my computer

Yeah I figured it would.... and perhaps it's time for a browser change on your part.

I have opera, i don't get any pop-ups and have all of the high security settings for IE. I've tried to disable it, but haven't had any luck. I don't see how changing to firefox would limit the spyware getting onto my computer.

I just figured you had IE.. I have Opera as well and never had any probs since the initial switch way back when. If it's not that, then stop going to porn sites* dammit!



*or any other site that dl's stuff in the background withoout your knowledge. But then you wouldn't know what they are now would you?... :lol

I hate spybot, it did absolutely nothing for my Computer.

Ad-aware is much better, just make sure you have the latest ref-list.

Anybody also use Spywareblaster along with these tools? It's cut down on the amount of spyware I get by at least 99%...

Are Ad-Aware and Spybot still the top two spyware programs?

Anything else I should have in combonation with these? I've also got CWShredder and HijackThis.
