The main reason why I want this game is that Orson Scott Card has penned the story. Hopefully the gameplay works out well so I will be able to enjoy the trilogy.

At last year's E3, the game looked amazing for PC but kinda crappy on Xbox. Gameplay wise though, it wasn't anything special. They've had a lot of time to tune it so maybe it'll turn out decent.

Advent Rising looks like total shit. I've been mildly interested in it for awhile but then I watched that Masterbit Theater footage of it over at IGN and I couldn't believe how bad it was. The animation and framerate are absolutely awful.

Seriously, check it out for yourself (you gotta be an insider subscriber though).

I understand he didn't write the whole story, just the dialogue. Still, considering the writing level of most videogame dialogue, that should be an enormous improvement.

Hmm, from what I have read, the game is based on a stroy by Card. He contributed to the backstory as well. Either way, it's great to see Card work on a game.

I believe the story was thought up by the Mustard brothers of developer GlyphX, who then pitched the idea to Card. Card loved it so he signed on as writer for the game or somesuch. I think he's doing a novelization too.

From what I've seen of the game I'm cautiously optimistic. The story certainly seems sweet.

It has been said a thousand times not to comment framerate by watching a video, but I have to agree with you. That the masterbit video of IGN made me rethink my preorder. I seriously hope that this video was made out of a very early version of the game, because what I've seen in the video wasn't great at all!

There are clipping errors all over, moonwalks, awkward animations. And those explosions! Awful! Gameplay wise there were two main flaws: the game seems extremely chaotic and uses the bullet time effect too often (every time the character jumps). The second flaw is the camera, especially when the hero jumps by using one of his powers. It looked like in mid air you can only guess where he's going to land.

After seeing that video I decided to wait for the first couple of reviews and decide then whether or not to buy this game.

Looks decent though, hopefully it all comes together for them, its been in development for a while so they probably have too high of hopes for it, which could be unfortunate.
