Afred Molina Returning as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 3

Alfred Molina is putting back on the metal arms and will reprise his role as the villainous Doctor Octopus, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

Molina turned in a fan-favorite performance in Sam Raimi's 2004 sequel Spider-Man 2 as Otto Octavius, a brilliant scientist who becomes an eight-limbed villain who pushed Toby Maguire's Spider-Man to the limits. Molina's involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man movie was first was rumored late last month, when GWW reported the actor had been spotted on set.

The fuck...? How is that even going to work? This is either going to be amazing or a complete cluster fuck.

This has to mean by implication Maguire and Garfield are a lock

Ironic in the sense that the OG Spider-Man 3 couldn't handle three villains, when this one sounds like its going to go multiverse nuts

Marvel over Sony deserves a little more faith but just because I have a real soft spot for SM2, I don't think Molina or any OG returns guarantee this will warm my dead heart

So article says Foxx is coming back as Electro too, :pie_thinking:
Does that mean were going to see the sinister six ?

best comic book movie super villain

but this multiverse thing is fucking shit up so bad

maybe not

i want to see a spider-man movie where spider-man is a mound of jello just jiggling for 2 hours and the whole city is having a mass orgy and by everyone i mean masses of chewed up bubble gum and it guest stars a carrot bolt 24% bulldozer umbrella because instead millions

I really wish they wouldnt do the spider-verse stuff in the MCU. we just got it in a very good animated movie that’s getting it’s own sequel. I’d rather they do something fresh instead of bringing back Molina and Foxx.

but I mean, I will watch it anyway though 🤷‍♂️

Whatever. Everything I expect from MCU movies is that they mildly entertain me.

And that multiverse thing with the old Spidermen sure sounds like an entertaining premise..

I kinda hope they lean into keeping some of these iconic actors in place even if they weren't technically under the new MCU.

I want more Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D'onofrio as Fisk, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher.

Really Vincent D'onofrio as Fisk is my biggest demand.

They're probably doing it now, because all the actors are relatively young enough to still play the roles together.

If they want to do it, seizing the opportunity before it's too late, and Luke and Leia are 200 years old, is probably the best way.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I'm confused.

Is this a multiverse thing where Raimi's Spider-man is going to be included as a parallel universe?

Or are they just hiring out the actor to play a "new" Doctor Octopus due to how popular he was in the Raimi film?

If it is a multiverse thing (and it's quite possible being this includes my favorite character Doctor Strange) I hope they eventually canonize The X-Men movies (at least the first two) as being an alternate Earth in the MCU. Especially considering Disney owns it now.

I just thought. For the next big story arc, it might include all these other non-MCU Marvel movies. Watch as whoever the next Big Bad is include Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield and Hugh Jackman (probably digitally de-aged) alongside MCU characters. Shit, throw in Snipes (Blade was so fucking awesome) too.

It's gonna be hard for this new movie to beat Spider-Man 2 or even Marvel's Spider-man (the PS4 game) in terms of Doc Ock.

It is fun to see the cast but that means some of them will get less screen time.
Might as well has Venom as a cameo.

They brought back Simmons to reprise as Jonah Jameson so same logic here I guess?

Seems like if they are bringing in Tobey then it'd be his Doc Ock, which is dead unless he is pulled from before but then it'd be weird that both actors look older. Or it's just a different universe altogether and logic isn't factored in.

This is pretty bad, the recycling. Aren't there a million stories ideas they could explore, and bringing back Jamie Fox as Electro, my goodness that is just about the worst idea they could come up with...Does Jamie Fox have some blackmail he is using to get Sony to bring him back. LOL!!!

Can someone explain to me how they wrote a script, got Holland and the regulars to pick it up and run with it, went into production, have started filming yet 'not' signed up Maguire and are still negotiating who they want to star in it?

The screentime SURELY can't be that big if he's not a lock

Cool I guess. Haven't really liked the Tom Holland Spiderman movies but this one could be fun.

Though I have a feeling these are going to be more like glorified cameos with a combined screen time of like 10 minutes.
