Afred Molina Returning as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 3

Cool I guess. Haven't really liked the Tom Holland Spiderman movies but this one could be fun.

Though I have a feeling these are going to be more like glorified cameos with a combined screen time of like 10 minutes.

Part of me agrees, but Maguire, Garfield, Dunst, Stone, Molina and God knows who else aren't going to be cheap for a cameo type affair

Does Octo really projectively generate more money than the other Spidey villains? I'm assuming this is financially driven at it's heart, but it's so hard to believe. I'm also way out of the loop and haven't seen anything after the old Spiderman 2.

I like Holland, but he doesn't feel like Peter Parker to me. He's too confident and good looking. He tries to act awkward, but I kind of see through it. Tobey Maguire was perfect I thought. Andrew Garfield was pretty good as well. None of them are bad, but I think Tobey had the awkwardness nailed down perfectly.

They also made Aunt May kind of hot which took some getting used to.

Having now read 68 issues of 60's Spidey, Tobey is just a bit too dorky for Peter Parker and Garfield way too confident (and also an outright arsehole). Holland is a nice middle ground that I feel portrays Parker pretty well. Obviously there is a bit of an over reliance on Tony Stark in MCU Spidey but that's another thing.

Peter Parker in the comics initially was quite dorky looking but by the time Johnny Romita took over he sexied Parker up a bit.

is the multivers the next big arc after the infinity gems? is this how the X-Men get introduced?

Multiverse yes, but not how they're introducing mutants. Madripoor is in Falcon & The Winter Soldier and there are some minor mutants in Shang-Chi.

man its actually kind of hilarious, trash tier sony spiderman / 'amazing' movies had such grand plans of having this big story arch like proper marvel. they were going to have the Sinister Six like anyone gave a damn. The amazing spiderman movies flopped and they pivoted hard. They get a taste of critical success from into the spiderverse and are now going all in with multiverse.

Multiverse isn't really needed to introduce the X-Men. Just like the 60's comics didn't need a multiverse.
Just make it so the boom of mutant births is recent and in the 90's. Then you can have a few elder mutants like Xavier and Magneto, their generation doesn't have many mutants, very rare.

Sorry to quote this old post but yeah this. A few older mutants with others coming into maturity at the time after endgame. There's an obscure reference to Wolverine in the first Captain America movie.

Alfred Molina was freaking fantastic as Doc Ock. I am 110% behind this decision. I’ve wanted him to come back since Spider-Man 2. My favorite Spider-Man villain other than Venom to be perfectly honest. It’s surprising (or not so surprising) that they are bringing Jamie Foxx back to reprise his role as Electro too, but I guess it could be good. Thing is, I’ve seen all of the Spider-Man movies except for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which I heard was wretched. I guess Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be coming back for sure now, but that’s a plus... Especially Maguire. I like Holland the best, but his movies haven’t topped Maguire’s (at the least the first 2) IMHO.

I still remember the sadness I felt when I read that Spider-Man 4 was cancelled. Felt like a small part of my youth was ending. Raimi sounded like he wanted to prove himself after the mixed reception to 3, and with that being his stance, I believe he would have done it.

That said, I'm happy with the current landscape of comic book movies, and we are getting so much, that it's hard to complain. Still, I'll shit my pants if they decide to have Raimi get back in the saddle and take Tobey on a new adventure. Even the thought of the two pairing together for Dr. Strange is pretty damn exciting.

These newer comic book movies suck ass and this multiverse shit is fucking retarded
Yep.

I don't understand what's cannon or not anymore. Everything is just a blend of randomness with no stakes at all.

Also, Molina's doc will be very confused seeing aunt May being so much younger than before.

Andrew Garfield might be filming the movie right now:
Recently, a DoorDash driver in Atlanta, Georgia, took to Twitter to mention that he'd dropped some food off for Andrew Garfield (who didn't seem too happy about having to share his ID). Fans of the actor who search for his name came across the Tweet, and Spidey fans have since put 2 + 2 together to make 3. Well, Spider-Man 3!

The actor is rumored to return as Peter Parker in the Marvel Studios threequel, and Atlanta is where the film is being shot. A well-known paparazzo in the city, who frequently takes set photos, has been teasing fans on his socials about seeing a mystery actor working on Spider-Man 3, and he made a point of directing his followers to this Tweet (take that as you will).

This is by no means confirmation, but it is very, very interesting. That driver didn't make a point of trying to grab attention; in fact, later Tweets have revealed that he didn't even know the actor is rumored to be in this film!

I agree on one hand, but if they want to introduce a heap of new characters like the X-Men (for example) then this would be the best way to fold them in, otherwise you’re left wondering why all these new superheroes were never around to help them out in previous movies.

Nah, multiverse is a crap way to introduce mutants.
It needs to be happening in our reality now, there needs to be a lineage of mutants so to speak. You pull a bunch of mutants from another reality and you're stuck however many were pulled from that reality and there won't be any new mutants until the current mutants have children and pass on their genes.

They can just present it as mutants being extremely rare throughout history.
Then during the 30's/40's a few new mutants were "awakened" like Charles and Eric. They can say that mutants age slower and that's why they are still "young" in the 2020's, age them mid 40's or so.
Then in the mid/late 90's the X gene became much more prominent and by the 2010's there were many more mutants "appearing". When I say appearing, the vast majority of them hid their powers and some others who showed their powers ended up at the Xavier Institute in the mid/late 2010's.
MCU is currently in 2025+ so that 5 year gap is a really good point in time for the X-Men to start showing up as a team.

Tag, you're it.
Alfred Molina confirms that digital de-aging will be used so he can play the villainous Doc Ock again in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Alfred Molina says Spider-Man 3 will digitally de-age him to play Doc Ock. It’s been seventeen years since Molina first played scientist-turned-supervillain Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2.
Even though Octavius died at the end of that movie, the character will be brought back to menace Peter Parker again in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In fact Molina isn’t the only actor from an older Spider-Man series set to return in No Way Home. Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is also coming back to play the same villain again.
There have also been rumors that former Peter Parker actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield could return as No Way Home embraces the multiverse concept

Do we remember how strong the rumours were regarding Tobey Maguire appearing in Dr. Strange 2?

I kind of want the whole package - Tobey, Raimi, Elfman.
