Should have been called After Burner: Blow Your Load.

P.S. It looks incredible, one of the best looking games yet. In motion it's just insane.
 
Looks somewhat sterile. I wonder it they might add more interactivity with environments or if they will just stick to making a visually polished version of the 1986 arcade smash hit, Afterburner 2(c).
 
I'm sure they'll include canyon/trench levels. Pay homage to the original and all that.
 
I doubt they'll ever be a arcade-to-console conversion for a very long time. With SEGA doing less arcade-to-console conversions as of late and the fact Lindbergh is new, its obvious they're going to want to keep games like After Burner, VF5, Power Smash 3 and just to name a few in the arcades; not just to rack in the profits these games could generate, but to continue to make arcades an alternative to consoles.
 
Revolution? no i dont think so. Rev's GPU may or may not be upto the task of handling it cause the arcade Lindbergh has a highend Nvidia GPU. better to have it on PS3 and X360.

If this is true, I hope someone cracks Lindbergh and releases an emulator (it's just a P4 with a Nvidia GPU right?). There are no more arcades and it's a fucking crime if we don't get the last few good Sega games.
 
WTF...does everybody seriously want a port of a game that'll probably take 30 or 40 minutes to beat? A game ON RAILS no less?

I mean I'd buy it...but I'm a Sega nut so I've got an excuse.
 
I can't see it being released on consoles. As you say, 25-30 mins at most to beat. Perhaps Sega can include it as a 2-1 release with another coin-op bit of fluff.

That's probably why Sega won't port it. Virtua Tennis and Virtua Fighter make sense because of the high replay value.

Maybe because it will probably be a very good old-fashioned high-score game?

Why's everything got to be about how long a game takes to complete these days.

Well you even look at Outrun and Sega didn't want to port it because of there not being much to it so they feared it wouldn't sell well. This is basically the same situation.
 
I don't see why they can't make a home version which is more advanced than the arcade. The home version would take the exact same engine and assets, and simply add more levels / variety. I mean, the engine is done, and that's a big part of the work. It makes financial sucess to keep building on that.

Oh I understand that, and why it might not get ported.

I was just explaining why some people would still like to see it. I'd personally like to see the return of few more high-score orientated games, which just get harder and harder till they crush you :)

Bingo.

I just don't get this board sometimes...when OutRun 2 got announced people who'd never even played the first game was like OMG IF SEGA DOESN'T PORT IT THEY'RE FUCKING MORONS BLAH BLAH, then when it comes out it sells like 90 copies and half the board rips it to pieces for having no depth, when it's limited depth should've been easy to see by anyone with a working brain. And this is even worse...at least OutRun 2 has online play to boot. I can't see AB having that, unless it is off rails.

It's like people try and invent new ways to bitch about Sega...it's really gotten old.

QFT. You guys DO remember how repetitive, short and simplistic After Burner is, right?
 
I hope this shows up at the local Gameworks, in a deluxe cabinet using a more advanced form of the 360-degree rotational seat used in the super deluxe versions of G-Loc and Galaxy Force.

Didn't stop me either, but it did mean I played it for maybe 2 days before placing it on the shelf forever.

Not that I'm arguing against an ABC (hehe, nice abbriviation) port. I'd buy it on day one and enjoy the heck out of it for a day or two. But it's true that for the most part arcade-centric games don't work to well as a console game. It'd be better if they took something like the Outrun or After Burner engine and made a mission based game straight for consoles using it (and it could include the arcade version as well).
 
I'm so getting this game. In the first pics they showed, they actually had to get a copyright from the company I work for to use their planes in the game...

I don't mind arcade games on consoles, they are nice pick up and play games... sometimes it's better that not every game is a 30-40 hour long epic adventure, I like to have balance in my library. Speaking of which I should go take a run in Outrun 2 now before my friend comes over...

Don't care, this game was fun as hell. I do hope it has a little more length to it though at least.

Did you finish the mission mode? Talk about fun and challenge. Also, PLENTY of things to unlock. :)
