IGN: Age of Empires is a heavy favorite in the RTS world: How have you handled the conversion from RTS to Turn-Based while still keeping the "Magic" alive?
Tyler Sigman: Age of Kings PC was successful in part because of the well-executed RTS mechanics, but more as a result of the overall game theme, setting, and concept. Although the core mechanics are quite different in the DS version, we have been faithful to most of the key gameplay features that make Age of Empires Age of Empires: great historical setting, diverse and meaningful unit types, a deep technology tree, a variety of buildings, and map exploration. And of course, shooting things with trebuchets is absolutely vital!
IGN: What kind of extra features can players expect? A solid campaign mode is essential, but what type of multiplayer or extra modes have been included in addition?
Sigman: The main campaign mode is the core of the game and offers 50+ hours of gameplay alone, while incorporating story-based progression and presenting actual historical scenarios that give the player the chance to meet and exceed the accomplishments of the featured heroes. But in addition to that we're happy to deliver Empire Map mode. Empire Map mode allows you to choose any one of 30+ specially designed maps, and play them according to your desires. You can play single player against all AI, hotseat versus up to 3 friends and/or AI, and you can also play through wireless connection with other DS owners. There are four player slots, and each player may pick their civilization and insignia. Then, there's a whole host of options about blackmap, fog of war, using heroes, random events, starting Age (quickstart), and more
I hope this is good. I'm a big fan of the AoE series.
