AI video generation is now insane

Here's the thing though.

These videos are nice looking but there's nothing particularly impressive or memorable. They look like something made by a random artist.

The Will Smith videos were so weird, my brain had a hard time processing them. No human artist ever came close to something so weird and unnatural. That's what i liked about older AI videos.

every person on social media is a future pornstar whether they like it or not, the ship has already sailed.
Just wait until people who upload photos of their kids on Facebook find out some sick fuck is using AI to make child porn and distribute it. I'm sure that will the straw that breaks the camels back.

While the more realistically stuff in the OP is more technically impressive.
I'm fascinated by all these fever dream like sequences being made with AI

I don't think I can embed it into the post.
But stuff like this or the one in that tweet, it almost feels like watching some Lovecraftian horror where your brain can't quite comprehend what it is watching
Thats exactly the stuff i like about AI. Stuff no human artist ever came close making. This also looks better than CGI in movies.

I dont agree. That is difficult
It's not -- these are based on the same modeling principles and base as diffusion image models, and those have developed extremely sophisticated techniques to preserve person / object / scene identity across images, via a multitude of add-on adapters (controlnets, loras of many kinds, ip-adapters that use external embeddings, etc). The tech is already there.

Now it's just a matter of carrying over that tooling into the new video domain, which is gradually happening and is already bootstrapped a bit by keyframes. In no time, consistency will be solved with entire tooling chains.
