Aksys is teasing something

"Meet my leader Phi, no escape." confirms it basically >.>

Confirms what? That Phi and escape managed their way into an anagram for one of the images?

To call that confirmations jumps like a dozen logical steps needed to actually make that confirmation.

Just saying. Don't get hopes up. If it ends up being ZE3, then be happy. If not, then no big letdown. Certainly no evidence making this a sure thing.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before (did a couple of searches and nothing came up), but here's a briefcase from the beginning of 999

...Can't you input any combo into that briefcase?

I think the announcement has decent odds of being ZE3, but if the teaser is supposed to be calling back to that of all things, then what on earth, Aksys.
You apparently are right on the money with how crazy your fans are.

Im leaning towards a yes on this on for it being a ZE3 thing because this is oddly specific. For them to do this, and for that specific anagram being there?
It's more likely intentional than not, by a longshot.

However, my true fear is

"Meet my leader Phi as she moves her game to mobile devices, no escape from the mobile revolution"

Honestly, I love the ZE series and I'd buy it anywhere if I had the platform, even for my iPad. I just need a closure is all.

I can't wait to play a Zero Escape game with a stamina meter.

even better if they work it into the script

"I slowly approached the yellow Chromatic Door, I looked back at Clover and Alice, both of them seemed impatient as they waited for me to open the door to our next trial, unfortunately i had to wait 8 minutes for my AP to increase"

they could make it a pure VN and i'll be happy. i want closure too.

I like it with puzzles over iOS, but when im playing it, i tend to dislike the puzzles. I dont know. Id rather get to the story again, but I feel like the puzzles are still part of it.

Oh my stars...can't handle this suspense.

I would love to see some older uchikoshi on my vita, though. Vita would make a fantastic VN machine if they'd just put some on it (and the one thing that's coming, Stein's Gate, I've already read...wah wah).

Has it been said that the numbers appear to be on cards that look like the greyed out versions of the cards used in the first puzzle?

I am trying to not get my hopes up, but I cannot help it when my GOAT is closer to receiving a sequel than it has ever been.

I love the puzzles. I get restless doing nothing but reading. I can't reasonably predict the details of plot developments, so my mind wants something to chew on besides simply feeling tense and confused

Perhaps the best thing that VLR did was have puzzles for EVERY color combination/choice, and prompt you to go to different rooms.

I guess the warping was good too

It seems I am the only person that liked VLR more than 999, they are my top 2 favorites though

no one here who played 999 knew what was gonna happen so it gave us the biggest shocks and twists and thus, more people prefer 999. VLR is more playable but is a known quantity. but yea, they're both excellent.

Apparently, those words on the images were found via refreshing, and there was a lunar eclipse yesterday.

What if the images were temporarily switched for the time period found on the magazine in VLR?

You're not. I love both games a lot, but for different reasons. 999 was just incredibly surprising because I had no idea of what I was getting into, and the horror vibes the game had were great.

VLR, meanwhile, was just simply mindblowing, and a much better game overall, despiste being more """"predictable"""" (notice the multiple "s) than 999 due to the simple fact that it's a sequel.

My question is: Why were 999/VLR a flop in JP anyway? Doesn't this type of fare typically do well?

it's been a while but 999 did well enough for VLR to be made. but yea, it puzzles me why VLR bombed there. in an interview, they even said they made concessions when developing VLR based on feedback in Japan. it's why VLR is less gorey and Clover is back.

Pretty much this. 999s twists were truly twists. If you thought too hard on VLR, you could very easily spoil things.

Like
the fact its in the future is blatantly obvious when you start thinking for a little.

Or the gold files spoiling everything.

Or even the fact that major characters being good/evil becomes very obvious and becomes their key roles because you have so many endings with them. Because of all of these things, I found 999s twists to be so much more impactful.
I mean hell, most people I know
didn't comprehend the two screens literally being two different characters
at all, until I went "sooo" after they finished it, at which point they just sat down and thought for an hour or two straight.

VLR reused some plot twists from Uchikoshi's earlier works(my only big complaint with VLR), also one could say it was a bit too serious for the JP audience (they seem to like over-the-top games like Danganronpa more).

I couldn't get into danganrompa.

The characters were so 1dimensional. Couldn't even go through a lets-play

they start out that way. then you learn more about them and they become much more interesting characters. i always love games that do that. the mystery didn't grab ya?

Just curious, but how far did you get?

Also, this isn't really what the thread is about, but ah well?

Don't all persona/ZE/Danganronpa threads end up overlapping eventually?

I love when games do that too, except Dangan kept killing everyone I talked to ;_;

For the rest of you guys, just throwing this out there- if you have an iOS (or maybe android? I forget if its on android) device, go get banshees last cry. I think the ZE crowd will enjoy it.

My theory is that it didn't push the fanservice angle enough.

Not that it didn't at all, Alice and Clover had some real questionable design decisions. But I'm currently playing Danganronpa 2 and it takes the fanservice to some pretty gross directions and that's probably one reason it's way more popular.

that doesn't explain why DR 1 did well, not to mention 1 or 2 scenes doesn't = an entire franchise being popular, Uchikoshi's stuff just flat out doesn't sell

It was popular before 2, so I don't think that would be it (though it probably didn't hurt).

999/VLR just doesn't feel like mainstream media as compared to other visual novels. I really love it that way, but I can see why not a lot of people give it a chance.

I preferred VLR too.
I loved 999, I didnt know what I was getting into and the true ending route blew me away.

But I loved VLR more because the flowchart made the whole game more fluid and because I thought the whole paradigm (prisonner's dilemma x time leaps) was very clever. The twists are more predictable than in 999 but there are still a lot of great ones.
