1.8 million is horrible and I am kind of surprised it did so badly considering Control did well and this game got great reviews, GOTY nod, etc.

Wasn't Deathloop the same situation?

I guess even worse because Deathloop at least got physical release.

I’ve tried Control and Alan Wake remastered a number of times and it still doesn’t hook me and I fall off it. Might try again. It’s been awhile since last time.

Ya I don’t think deathloop sold well at all.

But that was due to shooting themselves in the foot like odd 1970s pastel look and no traditional MP. It was basically a SP shooter with some offshoot MP gameplay. And didn’t deathloop have exclusivity too?

I don’t think too many big splashy SP focused shooters sell well now. I might be wrong and there’s some outliers, but if you’re going to be a shooter it’s got to have legs like competitive MP modes.

Wasn't my point. My point was, just like Deathloop, scores don't always reflect sales.

Deathloop got countless 10 out 10 and sell mix bag.

The game sucks and somehow the discussion around that game die. IMO that game was the most scam of all games.

I don't think releasing a physical version of Alan Wake 2 would help.

The game was bad, and the epic store stuff is bullshit.
Look at Wukong. The game is only getting physical release now and sell like no other game. This have nothing to do with epic exclusivity or no physical. If the game is good, will sell on whatever plataform period.

I loved Control. I don't know what they mean by action RPG, that could mean a lot of things. It could mean more Control with minor RPG elements. It could mean hit points and stuff. If it's the former I'm fine with it. If it's the latter, it would ruin it IMO. Control didn't need to be changed, it was great.

My second point was the excuse of 'no physical version' hurt Alan Wake 2 sales.

Wukong haven't physical either and sold very good.

I guess there are many people using excuses after excuses to justify the low sales of Alan Wake 2. Putting AW2 on Steam can really help the sales, but doesn't means was the reason for poor sales.

Just finished AW2 last night. Incredibly disappointed by it tbh. Really enjoyed the Saga parts as it felt like survival horror but hated the Wake stuff. Felt like they had the budget for half a game but used the convenience of a time loop story to repeat the same assets over and over again.

Lovely bit of racism at the end too…

Alan Wake is one of my favourites games of all time.

These kind of reviews are why I've gone back and forth on the game. I've loved everything Remedy has put out but this one makes me hesitate. I was positive it would be my first pro game but went with DD2 instead since it was on sale and I loved the time trial I tried.

you chose wisely. like others, my love of remedy / alan wake got me stuck with an extremely disappointing full-price digital copy. buy physical (trade-n) or deep sale. the most disturbingly narcissistic game i've ever played...

Yea I think I'm going to just wait for a deep sale. I just have to many AAA bangers in my backlog to put up with mediocre games right now.

I loved control. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with the shift to ARPG but I would have been so happy if they went full metroidvania for the sequel.

As a Control adorer, I’m cautiously optimistic about the sequel being an, “action RPG”, but that nomenclature could mean a variety of things so we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’ll be one of the voices here to say how much I loved AW2. I love psychological thriller stories, and detective thrillers, so I knew exactly what I was getting myself into with AW2. It’s a slow, slow burn of a game that takes its sweet time and wants you to unravel stuff yourself. For me, that was enjoyable, and the visuals and tech are definitely the cherry on top.

I liked AW2 well enough but...what the fuck is this DLC ?
I'm playing the lake house one ATM and it's boring me out of my goddamned mind.
I started this one first 'cause I LOVED Control but man...it's so slow, there's almost no action and the constant faffing with "weird" rooms and what have you just don't work IMO, it feels like you're playing an adventure game and not an action-horror one.

Hope the 1st DLC is better 'cause this...yeahhhh

PS : right now, Control is their best franchise, hope they don't manage to fuck things up with the whole RPG-ification.
