Alan Wake Remastered recoups development and marketing costs after two years

Alan Wake breaks even, showing the value in remastering and remaking older titles. It makes obvious sense to push for something like this when you're making a sequel to a game that could have experienced a larger audience but for one reason or another couldn't at the time.

Gaming was in a weird space in 2010 when the first game came out. Same with the Dead Space remake (original game came out in 2008).

Releasing a high-quality sequel has the potential to help push the sales of a remaster/remake and can help as a franchise breath new life into IP. The remaster probably helped the sales of the sequel and vice versa.
