Jude Law's latest film Alfie's poor results at the American box office have been blamed on last week's presidential election. The remake of the 1966 Michael Caine comedy only took $6.5 million during its opening weekend, and landed at number five in the US box office charts. Wayne Llewellyn, the president of distribution at Paramount, blamed the Republican triumph of George W. Bush's re-election may clash with the character's womanizing behavior. Llewellyn says, "It could be the mood of the country right now. It seems to be the result of the election. Maybe they didn't want to see a guy that slept around."

Lmao, what an awful excuse. :lol :lol

Judging by that news story, they aren't.

*Unless you're talking about movie audiences, in which case you may ignore this post.

Maybe they're wising up to unnecessary remakes of good films?

eh, i think its more like the marketting campaign flopped. i really don't think the majority of people care whether a film is a remake or not, and in some cases, that helps it out. so yea, this remake thing isn't anywhere near stopping, sadly.

Nobody wants to pay 8 bucks to see Jude Law get it on with Susan Sarandon.

It was also especially a good idea to open this piece of shit against a Pixar movie.

It was a fantastic film.

The stupid American fly-over states probably don't realize that it's a remake of a 1960s movie.

Pretty soon, you'll start seeing book burning and video burning, among other things. You just watch.

And the Tomb Raider sequel did bad because the game sucked. Hollwood hath spoken!
