I thought he was going to pull off a mask (ala season 3) and reveal that he was indeed....

Wow...that was kind of intense.

The episode didn't come off as important as it really was. Like, Rambaldi's prophecy totally got raped, the main follower of Rambaldi and the head of the Covenant? Dead. It's all dead. I mean, this was a huge deal...and yet it felt very small scale. This is the kind of event that would have worked only if this whole APO thing wouldn't have happened and all of this directly followed all of Sloane's antics at the end of last season. I just look back at that moment and think that this seems more important if you forget all the BS in between.

The ending, though...so Vaughn became Sydney's handler for a reason. That reason, of course, should be what is interesting. For instance, why did Irina know his secret? Vaughn couldn't be too involved, because he's seen far too clueless in too many situations. I mean, if he was "involved" all around, you have to wonder what exactly he had to gain to become her handler. Was he forced by Jack/Sloane? That still wouldn't make any sense. I just have a bad feeling that this could be similar to last season's cliffhanger, and it's teasing a huge piece of information that turns out to be something far less groundbreaking.

In other news, that was an intense final shot, simple as that. Fast, out of NOWHERE...that's how you do it. That's how it works, baby. Let's hope it pays off...don't let me down, JJ.

well, look at what we know

Vaughn's father also was a Rembaldi follower
it was no accident that Vaughn was the one who met Syd at CIA HQ
Vaughn actually ISNT REALLY named Michael Vaughn
looks like a setup for another Rembaldi arc invonving whoever the fuck Vaughn really is and whoever arranged for him to meed Syd...

Really? I have to disagree -- end of the world and all that.

Great episode (I hope we see Irina again), but I thought the ending was atrocious. I just can't buy Vaughn lying to Syd for that long, about something that big.

Actually, both this and Lost had that in common tonight -- great episodes with shitty endings.

But this is about Rambaldi, which is excessively more important than the world in the Aliasverse. This is about the most important storyline in the show, and it felt as if there was no real buildup to this HUGE moment.

While I know the basic history of Vaughn, and of course this will likely have to relate to Rambaldi...one has to wonder whether or not Vaughn was created in order to lead Sydney to her destiny?

My concern is that you're right, and there's no way he would have hidden this for so long...plus, if it's a huge revelation, how does all of the soulsearching Vaughn has done about "Bill Vaughn" make any sense? Why would he risk his life?

I think the episode needed the ending to have something to start off with next season. It was too happy otherwise, and it needed a little jolt. At the same time, I really hope this isn't just the writers grasping at straws. It has a chance to be very, very bad from the storyline standpoint. They better explain everything, whatever it is.

Lost's ending wasn't shitty; it was simply a cliffhanger that really didn't reveal anything. And, since I never expected much exposition, I can't say I was disappointed. Still, here's hoping that both come out with great openers in September.

Ghost

Chili Con Carnage!
Now THATS how you end a series.

"Well for starters, my names not
Michael Vaughan
"

*SMASH*
