Alice in Borderland Season 2 | Super Teaser Trailer | Netflix

The Cockatrice

I'm retarded?
Gonna bump this thread since im too lazy to make a new one. While season 1 was a mixed bag with good start and meh ending, season 2 is really nice from start to finish. The final episode was the perfect ending even if there is more to come, if not, thats also fine. Great season 2, show went from a 7 to an 8.5 in my eyes.

I had the exact opposite feeling. I thought the show's direction(especially when it came to action sequences) suffered this season. I also thought the final episode was very sloppy and poorly written to the point where I felt like the writer didn't know what direction they wanted to take the story to.

It did the same thing a lot of Isekai-type shows have been doing since Sword Art Online: Very strong first season and premise, followed by a lackluster and disappointing second season. It went from a solid B+ show to a C- or maybe D+ for me.

That being said, I think it is still a necessary and important show for western streaming services. I hope it helps those services become more interested in greenlighting and funding live action Japanese media. My hope is that it only gets better from here and that we start to see live action versions of projects that we thought would never receive one.

Just started watching season 1. Episode 1 was kinda meh, but episodes 2 and 3 - oh boy, didn't expect some of the developments. I'm gonna put everything aside and binge watch the entire thing.

In episode 3 I expected that
they will look at each other when standing in front of mirrors or something like that, not the depressing and most obvious ending.

So yeah, after watching seasons 1 & 2 I have to say the show is very uneven and that season 2 was worse than season 1...
King of Spades was the biggest offender - the guy kills everyone with precise shots EXCEPT for the main characters and they survive explosions and gunshot wounds that should've killed them on the spot. I'd understand if the whole show was like that, but no. Only the "boss fights" against him were absolutely over the top.
Season 2 is another victim to the idea of making the episodes very long. 40-50 minutes should be the maximum, but hey, we need to make time for loooong dramatic moments and scenery shots, right?
Season 1 had better games - first hearts game, tag game, marathon game with the concept of outsmarting the players... In season 2 I only truly loved the courtroom game. Splitting the games between episodes and showing some of the final games only during short scenes were also poor ideas. They should've made some other games shorter... like in the container game they take whole 10 minutes to explain the rules ffs.
I'm okay with the finale of the show. It's not the most interesting outcome I could think of, but the last episodes hinted some worse outcomes so at least they weren't the ones that got picked. ;)

Hmm. Very different views about season 2. I'm halfway through the first season; I think my biggest obstacle was getting through the opening.

I notice it alot with foreign shows (especially Asian shows) where the protagonists are all excited running around the environment at the beginning of the show. Lots of laughs and smiling, showing our heroes as ducks out of water until the danger begins. Maybe it's just iseki shows that annoy me at the start

Wife and I thought Season 1 was better but at least the ending was satisfying. Not enough games was our main complaint and seems like they fast forwarded through a bunch of them. The King of Spades episode was too unbelievable.

Same. Everyone in the King of Spades episode had too much HP. At least they did half of the 12 final games. But i would have preferred one or two more.

I liked season 2, but yea, the King of Spades one was just a bit much. Then again, when you see the ending and realize that all of the games are basically a metaphor for how much they WANT to live and how hard they'd fight to stay alive, I guess it makes more sense that the one girl basically got ripped in half by gunfire and still survived.

Anyways, I liked the show, it's nice to see one finally wrap up into a satisfying end. Also Queen of Hearts episode was great with the anime misdirections.

I preferred
The Virtual Reality idea or the aliens idea
as potential endings, but to be honest all of the options(including the official one) were kind of bad.

Definitely agreed. That is something that might work in anime but looks extremely off and silly in live action.

Mostly agree about the games between both seasons. I think that every game in season 2 involving this guy was some of their best work:

And then from that highest high, once they would go back to an episode of the other cast members, it would go back to it's lowest of lows. Chishiya quickly became my favorite character thanks to season 2, and in the end, a part of me would have preferred him as the protagonist. Even his backstory was arguably better than anyone else's. Nearly every episode focused around him felt like it came from a potentially better show, and those episodes kind of saved season 2 for me.

The pacing of the second season was all over the place. Only a handful of episodes captured the first season's spirit. The final two episodes earned themselves a place among the worst pieces of media I have ever seen. Both were long and drawn out while simultaneously adding very little to the story. The ending itself is like a silly mix between Lost and Your Name which I found lacking.

This 100%. It got to a point where my wife and I were laughing at how ridiculous it was. Like the whole episode was just huh? For starters, Arisu's plan and it just escalated nonsensically from there.

We have the last episode left for tomorrow. Overall, it was ok though. It seemed like they started rushing through things at the end or maybe they spent all their budget on the King of Spades episode.

I left that scene wondering why didn't Aguni shoot the King of Spades in the back of the head if he had bullets for the insane trickshot? Nonsense on top of nonsense.

Ok having finished the last episode, the King of Spades makes sense. Not a lot more sense but I don't think it is complete nonsense.

They were actually in purgatory and it was all about how far you would go to live. In
the King of Spades episode, they were giving it their all on wanting to live. This explains why Usagi could loose tons of blood in the last 2 episodes and keep going, why Hikari, although stabbed in the kidney a hundred times could keep going, or why the chick with the bow could get shot to high heaven but still live. I think the face cards were demons/angels meant to challenge their will to live. (In the Bible, angels weren't always a good thing to be visited by ;) Even the King of Spades said, He was Sorry but it was the only way to save them. Maybe the people KoS killed right off the top were the ones were suffering the most.. If you look. You could view the visas as time left to live in the real world. I don't get why his friends remember playing the game though but they don't remember the people's names.
