Based on how Ridley actually wanted his original alien movie to end I am not sure if he can pull of this sequel

Who would of thought fox would actually be the saviours

“I thought that the alien should come in, and Ripley harpoons it and it makes no difference, so it slams through her mask and rips her head off,” he says. He goes on to say the Xenomorph would mimic the voice of Tom Skerritt’s Captain Dallas saying, “I’m signing off.”

I like it better when the story was more like
The 'Gods' want to kill us because we are deemed too destructive
. Of course, that was back before Prometheus became what it is now.

Same here.
That whole thing is getting into a really weird and uninteresting direction right now.

Kinda chuckling at "This film has not been rated yet."

I read that Ridley went back to anamorphic lenses for this. Seeing how there hasn't been much discussion about 3d I wonder if it'll be 2d only.

Also, news on the second Alien Day.

April 26 has once again been declared Alien Day this year, inspired by the planet LV-426 from the original Alien and Aliens. There will be an entire day of celebrations that will help hype audiences up for Alien: Covenant.

  • Alien Day livestreaming event at Fox Studios in Los Angeles: Beginning at 10 a.m. PDT on all Alien social channels and on the newly launched Alien Universe Hub (AlienUniverse.com), fans can interact with the cast via a question and answer session as well as view multiple behind-the-scenes segments highlighting the making of Alien: Covenant.
  • Global One-Night Screening Event – Screenings of Ridley Scott’s original 1979 Alien starring Sigourney Weaver and his 2012 follow-up Prometheus will be held across the globe on Alien Day. At participating RPX Regal Cinema U.S. theaters and worldwide partners, fans can watch these sci-fi thrillers and be treated with exclusive content from Alien: Covenant and a one-of-a-kind commemorative item. Participating locations will be listed on AlienUniverse.com.
  • The “MU/TH/UR of all Alien Trivia Challenges”: Returning for only 24 hours on AlienUniverse.com, Fox will unveil a new quiz every 4 hours and 26 minutes. Fans will answer a series of rapid-fire questions for a chance to win a VIP trip to Ridley Scott’s upcoming Imprint Ceremony at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and incredible prizes.
  • Fan Art Contest: Submissions for a Fan Art Contest are now open at AlienUniverse.com. The chosen artwork will be transformed into a limited edition t-shirt premium available with the purchase of the Alien: Covenant Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD, exclusively at Wal-Mart stores and Walmart.com. Pre-order will start on May 19.

I'm in for seeing Alien on the big screen. Haven't seen it before that way.

That Shaw teaser is what I needed.

Besides the ridiculous situation with the Ripley shoes, I can't hate on Alien Day. My SO won me some swag during it last year! I'm not really a merch guy, but I'll take whatever odd Prometheus thing that's put out. And of course I look forward to all the Covenant teasing on this upcoming 4/26. But, yeah, it's definitely a silly, manufactured day considering how small, split and generally dissatisfied its fandom seemingly is currently (and will likely continue to be). I might identify strongly with the Scott films, but I have little interest in the larger "Alien Universe" and celebrating it with other fans. So its worth to me is in how much Scottverse it can serve... me.

The Alien Facebook page didn't push these images as a public post today (yet?), but seemed to accidentally have them accessible with a little digging. They've since been taken down. It's a disturbing piece of marketing. I don't interpret the pics as being literal, but fair warning of possible spoilers.

Alien: Covenant Crew X-Rays

So there's some photographic evidence in there that he's going straight back to the first ideas he had in 1979 and bringing those to life as literally as possible.

This legendary franchise will have the same fate as Terminator right? And I liked Prometheus, dunno why so many don't but I liked Salvation too so maybe it's just me ;)

Just saw a tv spot and it still says this is film is not yet rated. There's no chance they pull some bullshit and make this PG-13 right??

As far as I know, PG-13-targeted movies don't get redband trailers.

I had no idea
Guy Pearce was in this, hopefully more substantial than his terrible role in Prometheus. Pretty sure hes not an old man in this one. I'm not sure how though.

Although it would be "funny" if the cut some gore and language and got a PG13 despite scenes of
David committing genocide.
Prometheus was rated R and it did well enough to "revive" the franchise. I wouldn't worry about Covenant. This is also the same studio that released Deadpool and Logan with R-ratings, so they're probably not going to do anything like that.

Hah, Portland isn't getting one.
That could change as it gets closer to the 26th. Last year, more showings got added later on. One showing even got added that was slightly closer to me (3 hour drive instead of 5). Sadly, I didn't find out till it was too late. To make matters worse, I heard last years screenings were in 35mm at some locations. It's a dream of mine to see the theatrical cuts of the first two movies on film. Missing that was painful. Since it's through Regal this year, it'll likely just be a DCP. On the up side, at least I'm only an hour drive away from the closet showing now.

Are tickets for Alien live yet? I'm checking for showtimes at a theater on the list and not getting any results.

They're only up for certain theaters at the moment. I've been refreshing the Knoxville theater's fandango for the past hour but no luck.

You can go ahead and buy a Covenant ticket though.
