Not really. Companies would still be cutting corners left and right (a la Capcom) in things like colors, animations, scale, options, etc., and they'd still be trying to find ways to get 3D into the mix

Yeah, it really is a shame that 2D's last big hurrah has to be an underpowered portable, designed for a low price rather than performance. It would rock if we had something that could turn out games that looked like this or Guilty Gear or those sprite-oriented PS2 SPRGs.

Anyway, it sucks that they couldn't get this out in time for the TRU sale, but oh well. I'll still grab it ASAP.

Are the PS2 and GCN versions releasing the same day? EB says no (PS2: Nov. 2nd, GCN: Nov. 16), but Gamestop says yes.

hmm no, but since this game isn't even being released in europe, it doesn't matter anyhow. There are more than enough games on xbox than I can afford/have the time to play so it's not a problem.

It's a side-scrolling shooter, developed by a new startup called The Behemoth. They're comprised of Tom Fulp, the mind behind Newgrounds.com (which was once the premiere flash repository on the internet) and Dan "Synj" Paladin of Synj Industries, among others. The game itself is a greatly expanded version of one of Newground's most famous and popular games, Alien Hominid, which you can try out yourself right here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=59593. The Internet flash version was itself developed by Tom and Dan and if you found it fun you'll definitely enjoy the console version.

As for whether or not it's a British thermal unit, I'm afraid the answer is no.

Oddly enough, Gamestop and EB's websites are saying these won't be out for GC until 10/23. The PS2 rev should hit today or tomorrow. Anyone know what's up?

I'm guessing Gamecubes games may take a bit longer to press due to the media being proprietary. A lot fewer pressing plants are equipped to manufacture the discs compared to the PS2 (DVD/CD).

I overnighted the PS2 version from GameStop today, which it says ships in 24 hours (compared to next Tuesday for the GC version) (ps - the GC d-pad can go to hell). Hopefully should have it by the weekend, seeing as how there's such a HUGE DROUGHT OF GOOD GAMES TO PLAY LATELY.

Rumors? It's right on EB's and Gamestop's sites. An EB employee I talked to today verified it won't hit until the 24th (in-store). Note that the PS2 version will be in-store on the 18th.

I've emailed Behemoth, no response yet. I think I'll just order it from them since their store says it's available now, but I'll wait for their answer.
