I played the flash version when it was new, and disliked it. I don't get the hype for this, besides it being new and 2D.

i really wish people would stop comparing it to the flash version. they are hardly the same game at all. this is not a "port" or an "update" or any such thing. this is like the difference between Mario Tennis and Pong. Same basic idea, not the same game. or something....

Hey, for anybody that wants to support indie/garage development I highly suggest that you pick this game up. This game was created by a group of just like 5 guys all living in the same house, I think it's really a labour of love. If I had a PS2 or GC I'd totally pick this up, not just because it looks like a good game, because I'd want people to do the same for me if I was in the same position. Regardless if it sells well or not, big time kudos to the guys for working on something they love and getting it finished and out the door.

That's a noble sentiment, but I'm not going to spend money on a game I think is poor.

And I think this particular game plays poorly. It's really getting overrated. Neo Contra, a weaker than average Contra game, kicks its ass in every way. Unless you really dig that wacky Flash art style. I ... don't.

It scored a 8.4 at Gamespot and after looking at the video review im sure i will pick this one up.
I've always liked the Metal Slug series , and this is a similar experience it seems like.

But whats up with no Europe release? Is that a fact?
If thats true i'll just have to import it.. Hopefully it will work with Freeloader.

Well o~3 entertainment is quite strange, the developers have already programmed the Xbox version, but they're not releasing it for some reason, no european release either. I guess though with a game like that it was rather hard to find a better publisher.

EBGames lists the XB version for February:

No idea why it didn't get released along with the other versions, though.

saw several copies of the gc version at an ebgames, but they didn't even have the ps2 version in their computer. hm. that's the one i want. i don't really care for the flash game, and i take ben t's reservations seriously, but of course i have to buy anything new and 2d and metal-slug-styled. might just order it online. with that japanese psp purchase looking less likely, i've got a bit more money to spend on games.
