Alien Isolation PC Performance thread

Scroll down in the video options menu to see if everything is on?

Everything is maxed, using SMAA T2x.

It's the low FOV, it makes things look large. Everything seems very zoomed in with VR because of this, you can only get 75 degrees FOV from this game max. Ideally, for VR, you'd want somewhere around 120 degrees. But even on a monitor, the game looks tight and zoomed in because of the low FOV. I'm guessing they did that on purpose, to make it feel tight and cramped and thus more scary.
I guess that's it. I kind of don't like it but I guess I will get use to it a few hours in.

Other than those to gripes though I love the look of it, which sort of reminds me of Doom 3.

So I have a 6-years old PC, Intel Dual Core E7300 2,66 GHz OC 4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA 650 Ti 1 GB and with the setting below I'm getting 50 fps average, never goes under 40 fps and about 40 % of the time its 60 fps.. so far so good :) really good port, even though what is with those jaggies?

My rig:

3570K@4.4
G1 970 @ stock
8GB Samsung RAM

Everything in-game maxed with SMAA T1x and downsampling (DSR) from 1440p to 1080p. I get anywhere from ~70 fps up to over 90 fps. I may try DSR 4K again as at the beginning it was running in the mid 50s that way.

It took me a long while to get used to it in VR. Everything feels like it's right up in your face... which does make enemy encounters way scarier, though.

Is SMAA T1x or T2x better image quality? Assuming it's T2x just weird that they're not listed in that order.

Saw earlier posts, it's T2x.

I definitely prefer the cleaner look you get by disabling CA and the film grain. CA always reminds me of looking at old 3D film without the cyan and magenta glasses. If only there was a way to completely remove those jaggies though.

This is going to sound stupid, but I can't figure out how to pump the handle on the
generator to power up stuff, I can hit 'E' to use it (I put my hand on the handle), but I
can't pump the handle, I've tried checking the key mapping, and everything looks ok,
I've tried various keys on the keyboard and all the mouse buttons, I just sit there, anyone
else ever have this problem? I'm not using the controller in any way, just the mouse/keyboard.

You have to mash E and fill the tiny circle up. You do it 3 times.

Try to pull it a few times ;)

Tried to get rid of jaggies via nvidia inspector but nothing seems to work ;/ Really distracting playing like this. Maybe sweetfx does The trick..

i7 3770k
8GB RAM
EVGA GTX780 Classified.
1920x1080, everything maxed out, havent seen it drop below 100 yet.

Nobody to answer me ? :(
I'm really afraid my PC config will not be sufficient...

If you already have the game unlocked, is it too much effort to run the game yourself for a few minutes? Do you really depend on someone else telling you that it will run fine with that system?

¯\ (º_o) /¯

Il's unlocked but since i got a very poor connection, it will take maybe 24hrs before I can launch it..
Anyway, thanks for the feedback ! :)

i72600K @ 4.5Ghz
8GB RAM
Windows 7
MSI GTX 970 4GB

All settings tanked, runs great.

at 4K i get avg 30fps in MSI AB. At 1440p 60FPS locked. so 1440p for me :)

I cant make sense of the video settings - how do you turn off film grain. Is it the far right or far left i should move the slider too. I personally cant see much difference. Do you need to restart the game for the settings to be applied?

Doesn't T2x SMAA use sample points from MSAA or something? Is there maybe a way to enhance that and use SGSSAA in conjunction with it?

Playing at 1920x1200, just wondering what the best things to disable are for a system that has an older quad core CPU? I have a 7870. I have lowered the shadows, thinking about lowering particles also. Thanks.

Is there any way to unequip an item in your hand (PC)? Sometimes I just like having a full unobstructed view instead of some flare poking in from the corner - plus the risk I might accidentally set it off and waste it.

Nope it's a temporal variant of regular SMAA that uses previous frame data to help clean things up further. Hence some ghosting issues and lack of sli compatibility.

Switch to weapons, like the revolver.

See guys? That happens if you let AMD optimize a game, it's a great fluid experience for Nvidia and AMD users, while Its meant to be played games are running like dog poop on AMD hardware.

That's not universally true, even though I think it's fair to use as a rule of thumb. NVidia owners didn't have a great experience with Tomb Raider until a few patches and driver updates. AMD peeps were fine day one.

Global Illumination looks pretty good.
Also nice to know that it uses GPU particles.

Ps. Funny that AMD is benchmarking a game on i7 :)

I have a q6600 at stock frequencies, didn't disable anything and the game is smooth as butter. Amazing performance for such a good looking game.

Try exiting things like shadowplay, fraps and rivatuner (runs alongside afterburner. it's the system info overlay)
Those can often conflict with many games causing them to crash if you run them alongside. Though I've had no trouble running this game with all three running at once as well as Steam.

Nailed it, Fraps was the issue. I wonder why, and it's extra sad because it's my go to recording software (alternatives have either not worked for me or not produced equivalent quality). Thanks a lot. Thanks to you as well, jbailey8.

Playing at 2880x1620 and the aliasing is still noticeable. Kind of sucks. Runs at a perfect 60fps for me, but I wish I could get rid of the jaggies and have a sharper image.

What? I've seen tons of examples in game where there is absolutely no GI. I'm pretty sure this game doesn't have GI.

What GPU are you using?, If you have a 970/980 can you not enable DSR and downscale from 4k?

Just got this game today. I was a little cautios about whether or not it would run well on my ass old PC

AMD Athlon X2 250
Radeon 7750 HD
6GB RAM

But after seeing the posts here I'm pretty sure I'll be fine, glad we're getting a lot of really well optimized PC games lately.

Boy the GTX 580 is such a beast, thing is like 4 years old and can still pull off most games 60+ FPS on highest settings no problem at 1080p.

Well... I had it, it was definitely starting to show its age big time! Was not hitting 60 fps with a lot of stuff anymore to be truthful...

Any reason they are testing with a 8 core pc? Last I heard 4790k was still the fastest at playing games. Unless all of a sudden we got some meagical 8 core support? ;).
