Alien Isolation PC Performance thread

GTX 760 2GB, i5-3570k, 8GB RAM...downsampling 2880 x 1620 > 1080p everything max with 4k shadows, enhanced planar reflections and LOD tweak...running buttery smooth 40-60fps.

This game is seriously well optimized and looks amazing.

Yeah I played like 10 hours with them all enabled and it didnt crash once.

Then it started doing it- along with a message saying Nvidia Driver has stopped working and recovered.

Not done it since I disabled them options.
same problem for me. I resolved unistalling latest Nvidia driver and reinstalling it. No more loading screen crash

This game runs amazing for me but minimized it slows my system terribly. Usually I cant alt-tab out of games to take short break or do some quick browsing with no trouble but not with this.

Also I think there might be issues with the sound. On "Full Dynamic Range" using my G930 I can hear subtle sounds like her being scared or other little sounds then I don't hear anything for a along time. Headset gives me the worse sound.

Any ini changes I can make to snoop in some more frames? Game runs at 30fps with some slowdowns on med/high on my old laptop with a 540m so that's great, but more is always better, so I'm wondering what I can do without sacrificing IQ. I haven't even looked if low looks ugly, though.

Weird graphics glitch in the DLC Crew Expendable. I haven't started playing the main game yet so I don't know if it affects that as well.

When I turn the FOV any higher than the default, I get this weird shadow glitch to the side of the radar. I've tested this on two different set of drivers (337.88 and the newest, 344.11) and it still occurs. I've messed with other settings and FOV is what's causing this. Any suggestions?

If it happens during movement or turning it's most likely artifact from temporal reprojection on t2x SMAA.

I experienced the same thing, but only when I was using the Sniper Elite 3-profile (via Nvidia Inspector). Maybe you are doing the same?

I haven't changed any settings in that part of the profile. Only changes made were to force anisotropic filtering because they seemed to look better that way. However, I reverted all changes to test and the issue still persists.

Just got the game a week ago and it performed and looked great. Now on a new TV, this happens:

Any ideas? All my other games work perfectly. It's just this one. Changing the res among other things does nothing.

Edit: video should work now

Ha! Found another game that does the same thing (Dirt 3). What is the issue here?

Just bought on Steam.
I've played some hours of the PS4 version and going from that chunky 30 FPS to the peachy, almost tactile, feeling of 120 FPS is mind blowing. Time to tweak some details and seriously play this baby!

Yup, I'm playing this on my ROG Swift and the experience is mind blowing. It's so crazy smooth, it's ridiculous.

Did he just increase the gloss of the texture and make it more purely reflective?

Yup.
Something like that, I guess. :D

I am not sure if looks consistent with the dull realistic metals found elsewhere in the alien universe and the game.

They are applied only on a few surfaces.
The vanilla game has some reflections of that kind aswell.

It's not a totally dull and ''dry' world.

For my personal sensibility I don't see them as something breaking the overall artistic coherence, but just as an extra touch, enhancing its brushes.

Alright so Alien Isolation is the first game where I can't figure out/or someone else knows how to fix my problem. I get a black screen upon startup, with no sound/image at all. Only way to get out of this is to Ctrl-alt-delete (which is weird cause it's like it's trying to run the game at like 4K cause the desktop is extremely small). I get a generic AI.EXE has stopped working.

GTX 970 here, newest drivers... help :)

What's the faulty module ?
Try verifying game cache or reinstalling dx/vc redist.

Surely that does not allude to the Steam overlay even though it does not hurt to try.
Are you using SweetFX or something like this ? You might want to disable that.

The game has been rather prone to crashes on my system but it had nothing to do with the overlay, supposedly a driver issue now fixed.

Yep, it was the steam overlay... I changed the name of the file in the steam directory and it now works.

I can't believe how well optimized this game is.

Maxing it out on an i3-2100 and GTX 960 and it never dips below 80fps. Usually hovers in the 120s.
