Alien: Rogue Incursion - Part One, a single player action-horror game set in the Alien universe, is getting an upgrade. And you won't even need a VR headset to play. Alien: Rouge Incursion - Part One: Evolved Edition hits PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PC September 30, 2025 and features "even deadlier Xenomorphs and enhanced visuals."

This seems built for VR so I'm not sure how it'll translate to not have it.

Was this even a good game compared to isolation?

Before it was previously announced I remember reading somewhere this game was going to be a hybrid game from the beginning, but they never mentioned it again after that.

Even some of the first reviews said the game's mechanics felt a bit off, like a flat game modded to be playable in VR.

As for the game itself, it's an indie Resident Evil-style game. Nothing to do with Isolation.

RE style game? So combat and fun with cool characters and atmosphere?

Mechanics-wise specifically. It's a slow-paced shooter with backtracking and puzzle solving like 7 Biohazard.

As for the cool characters and atmosphere part, I don't know. I never paid attention to that.

Color me interested.

Will wait for impressions on this update.

Much like how Alien Isolation was a love letter to the first Alien movie, Alien: Rogue Incursion is a love letter to its sequel, Aliens. Find out how in this interview with TQ Jefferson and Eugene Elkin of Survios as they talk about Alien: Rogue Incursion Part 1 Evolved Edition

I played the VR version and I had so much fun and it felt quite immersive for an Alien game. Save with a few flaws, of course.
I'll re-play it once it launches on PC. It feels like it's going to be different.

I like the quote from the guy they had on IGN yesterday who said Alien Isolation was a love letter to Alien, they think this game is a love letter to Aliens. Envisaged to be a multi-part story as well so hopefully this will do well enough for more to come.

This game is a ridiculous piece of shit. It's a fetch quest, go here, press button game with hilariously poor AI aliens that constantly respawn in the most predictable places. The story is crap, the acting is crap, the music is crap and oh, did I tell you I bought the game and didn't even know it was like part 1 of whatever? Yeahhhhh.. I really do not recommend this game to anyone.

How no one in the team considered that infinite respawns on a timer was a very stupid game design idea is beyond me.

It's not every day we get a game previously locked to the VR format come out on displays everybody generally uses. Superhot and Moss are two examples that come to mind, and Alien Rogue Inclusion joins that small list. This is essentially the same game with some enhancements and formatting to fit traditional displays.

But before shelling out your hard-earned $29.99, it's worth knowing what you're getting into here. Like Alien: Isolation? Well, there's a good chance you'll enjoy Rogue Incursion; it's not quite as strategic or atmopsheric, but it has that same spirit.

With a 7 hour runtime and tons of lore and Alien goodness at your fingertips, Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition will make fans satisfied. Alien Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition releases on September 30th on PC and PS5.

"Locked to the VR format", "VR Prison". SHM. I can't believe it's 2025 and game journalists keep spewing this shit. And this guy is still waiting to play Half-Life Alyx on a flatscreen? Dude, just get a VR headset. If you truly love videogames you don't care which platform the games are on.

When I clicked the video, I expected some new gameplay video as early preview or some kind.
I was so disappointed it wasn't. If you wanna know what the game is about, literally watch the VR walkthroughs cause it's almost the same thing outside the graphics and some gameplay aspects.

Just give me a Pulse rifle, have Ripley lines from the film and give me fucking Aliens!!

Why is this so fucking hard to do?

Fuck!

Alien Isolation was perfection, I'm not sure if this even comes close. Would like to know more from people who played both

I'll pick this up regardless to support the brand/IP. Can't be any worse than Colonial Marines, so there's that, lol. Can't wait for Alien Isolation 2.

The best parts of this game are the VR gimmicks. Without it, it's just a mediocre shooter (at best) and ends on a cliffhanger because it's only half of a game.
Yeah, I agree. The constant attacks from the xenos every 2 freaking seconds made it just tedious. I was pretty disappointed with it and never finished it.

Apparently they actually changed the way the xeno spawns work but it was too little too late.

Maybe this game will be a better package when both parts are released and bundled together, but I can't recommend buying just this one.

The brand is Disney now, sadly.

Honestly I think I had a better overall time with Colonial Marines. It's not a good game but I'll always give it credit for retconning Hicks' terrible off-screen death between movies.

This game isn't good either but it doesn't really have anything going for it aside from recreating some classic "Alien moments" in VR, which probably won't translate as well in 2D.

I figured I'd wait until the price is right regardless, as it is more of a "budget" title. You reminded me that this is essentially a part one, rather than a whole. Thanks for that!

Right, and? I mean, I've loved everything Xenomorph related since I was a kid, and even after Disney owning it nothing has changed my perception. Especially what has come out since then. This is on the devs and studio alone.

Yeah, I'll give Colonial Marines that, but man that game should've been handled better. I'll never stop disliking Gearbox because of it.

I'm just glad to be seeing more and more done with the IP, especially in the games department.

Much better than Colonial Marines imo. Graphics are great, AI is alright (a bit too 'beeline to you and attack' on VR just because you made a noise), gameplay is solid and - at least on VR - I haven't noticed any bugs

If you are curious how Aliens Colonial Marines looked before Gearbox ruined it, have a good read here;

Anyway, there's a preview article;

Great work with this! I've been going to AVPGalaxy for EONS, so, really cool to see you go there as well, haha.

At one of the previous studios I worked at, a lot of my co-workers came from Time Gate and shared quite a bit with me about it all. It immediately made me hate Gearbox, lol.

Now, now... I'd share that prerelease overview link with your co-workers (if you still got contact) from TGS and tell me if what I speculated is correct or not. I'd love to know.

I could try, but we all haven't kept in touch in awhile.

I do remember a lot revolved around Gearbox shifting focus from A:CM to focus more on BL2. Timegate was given the opportunity to work on it, I believe at the time I was told that they were given a different deadline, something that felt more promising and believable for their studio. But after signing on, things quickly changed. There was a lack of communication and proper input from Gearbox, and the once believable deadline became something that was anything but. I believe they were told that they would also get support from Gearbox on the project as well, but that didn't happen. Instead they were put in a position where they were forced to do what they could with the little time they had. I heard there was a ton of crunching the entire time as the amount of devs and the timeline just didn't add up for them. The worst part about it is that the whole situation is what sent them downward, causing them to shutdown. They were actually doing pretty well as a smaller studio for awhile there.

It's been 11-12 years since I've talked with them about it and I worked with them. They're all really good and down to Earth people, none of them outright were like "IT'S THEIR FAULT!" or anything of the sort. But after everything they shared, it was hard to defend Gearbox at all.

I wish we could have an alternate timeline where Borderlands 2 never happened, or it did way later, so all of their focus could've just been on Colonial Marines. I was just never a fan of the Gearbox team talking about how they're all such big fans and Colonial Marines is such a wonderful opportunity. Only to drop it and focus on Borderlands 2 instead, lol.

Randy Pitchford is one of the worst people of the industry…

I'll never forget one of the leads at my first game industry job told me about how Randy promised him a job at Gearbox, and they discussed it multiple times. Confirmed everything, went over dates, etc. So, he got his family together and moved across states for this guaranteed job only to have Randy tell him it doesn't exist and there's no room for him. This was after it was confirmed across the board, multiple times. I mean, he had a family, why would he not get confirmation, and move across states for something all willy nilly? Lol.

He reached out to other industry friends that he had and he was told about an available position at the studio where we met. I was just like man, wtf?

His words were, "Randy Pitchford is a snake."

What a coincidence, originally I wanted to write exactly that, "Randy Pitchford is a snake." But I didn't want to be that radical. Your story though validates it. What a terrible (even evil?) person this guy is…
