Sooo, I just did some shopping earlier this evening and one of the items didn't get checked out and I was able to leave with no trouble. I didn't realize it was missing until I was in the car and looked over the reciept. Now the question here is, do I go back and pay for it? or do I just keep it and be a happy camper o-o. To note, I would have gone back but I was in the rush to make it to the mall before they closed.

Nonissue. They made a mistake, no biggie. It's like when I stop by the drive through to get a burger and a coke, and then get home an realize that my coke is water. I don't drive all of the way back and ask for a refund. I go to sleep. :/

If your girlfriend ran a music shop and you bought some CD's, but found an extra one in the bag when you got home, what would you do?

Take it back, offer to pay for it, see what the manager says.

Keep it, pass on the savings to someone else somehow, like tip generously for the next few waitpeople...

Best advice in the thread. I happen to be an expert in collecting these "donations"........feel free to pm me :D

I say it depends on the value of the freebie. If it's a high cost item I'd be more inclined to be honest in this situation. But yea if it's like a free dvd or something, keep it.

I would take it back and pay for it. Sure they messed up, but if you were ready to pay for it anyway, you don't need it as a freebie anyway, so why not help them out? I dunno, that's just me there's not illegal about keeping it but the topic -is- about morals anyway. :D

If it's from a corporate store don't worry about it. It's the customer who's getting fucked in the long run.

Yep. If it's from a local record store, take it back. If it's from a Tower Records, they recouped the loss many times over with the other items you bought alone.

Take it back, I had a girlfriend who was fired becuase she messed up doing this same thing. If you have half a heart you will take it back.
