Alternative to Hollywood entertainment, please recommend (foreign tv shows, movies)

Many have stated that they just watch anime now because Hollywood/American entertainment isn't doing it for them these days. I'm one of them, even though I am currently watching WandaVision.

In my case I'm having a hard time finding recent anime that interests me?

Here's some examples of entertainment I like:

Monster (2004)
Planet of the Apes (both the old ones and the reboot trilogy)
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
MCU especially Winter Soldier and Infinity War
Evangelion
Star Wars OT
Braveheart
GoT seasons 1-6
Utopia (even the American remake)
Shin Godzilla

I guess you can say I like serious adventure stories with ensemble casts.

Any good foreign movies and shows? Or any anime that I overlooked? I saw an Indian movie I liked recently. Forgot the name.

For the ones suggesting older movies - I've been doing a lot of that the past few years.

I'm just now getting into Red Dwarf. 80s sci fi comedy from the BBC. If you like Futurama, Rick & Morty, or Star Trek, you will love this show.

Dune (1984) is good for a laugh or two, and with the new Denis Villeneuve jam dropping in October, it should be on your watch list. Also, if you haven't seen it (and if you have a strong stomache for early 2000's CGI and 5 hours to kill), check out the Dune TV Mini-Series! Great cast, hammy acting, and a ripppped James McAvoy (inner monolog: those are all three the same thing...)

Watch older movies.
This ^^^

There's a lot of good old movies out there. I've been sticking to the old stuff for years now because Hollywood has been trash (not just the recent surge in woke stuff, but most newer movies have just sucked). I still find out new older movies I've never seen before.

I've actually been buying a lot of blurays and 4k blurays lately and building my physical collection up some more. I don't trust these massive streaming services being run by woketards who need warning labels. They can never pry a physical disc from my cold dead hands. It's also still by far the superior way to watch a movie as far as video/audio quality goes.

Yeah, I've been watching 30s movies too lately. You're on a right track. Haven't seen that one though.
Here's my top 10: https://letterboxd.com/he1nz/list/top-10-movies-of-1930s/
Gonna be expanding to top 25 soon.
Captain Blood is a damn treasure! It is one of the few transitions from novel to film that captures the author's intent. Can you imagine working with Errol Flynn on a set where he does take after perfect take just because he loves the role so much? His work is a study in dedication, an absolute powerhouse of the craft. He is a force on the screen, top notch expressive voice and emotion in every line of script!

Kingdom on Netflix: Historical Korea + Zombies + Action + Political Intrigue + solid production values = One of the best shows on Netflix

Dark on Netflix is also great. A great german time travel story with great performances, a fun plot, tons of atmosphere and well told story that doesn't drag on for too long.

The Raid 1 and 2: some of the best action movies.

ZeroZeroZero: It think it is holywood but two third of the story are set in Italy/Mexico with Italian/Mexican actors. Awesome show all around.

Oldboy: classic.

Norsemen: Great viking themed comedy. I didn't like the latest season too much but the first few are great.

If you have never seen Hausu then you really should. This is a one of a kind movie, a '70s Japanese ensemble horror fantasy film with heavy emphasis on visual effects.

My advice just enjoy media and don’t take the political stuff seriously. Conservative media is basically Christian rock and it’s never going to be as good as Hollywood.

Watch The Treatment (2014), it's an excellent Belgian thriller that I would compare with Se7en and 8mm, the movie is about pedos so it's quite stomach turning at times but holy shit does it deliver, great script and acting but imo the direction of the film is it's best asset. Hidden gem right there, rarely find it in lists about foreign films.
