Amazing Flash Game - Raiden X

That was alot of fun... seriously gave me the urge to break out the PSOne Raiden....

The fact that it has a save game functionality means... bookmarked for later play!

I love the purple laser.

Awesome port. I was actually playing the original Raiden on Turbo Gfx yesterday. Good stuff! Purple bendy laser fo' life!

The bendy laser is weak, but my favourite one. I would love the red one, but at maximum, it shoots so many bullets that it slows down the game. It does huge damage though if you go right in front of your target so that every bullet shell hits him all at once.

Awesome. What games were these? What were they released on?

Powered up purple chain lightning + powered up homing missiles = pwn.

Raiden
Raiden II
Raiden DX

All originally for arcade. Raiden was ported to a billion systems, but the only version worth your time is Raiden Project for PSX, which has Raiden and Raiden II. Raiden DX is also Playstation (import), and had a cheap rerelease.

Thank you. I'll look into Raiden Project then. Rock.

Man, this shit would be awesome on one of the handhelds...

You haven't played N?

Thank you. Thank you.

Play N.

Amazing platformer, perfect control, insanely difficult, a huge number of levels (most of which are actually well-made), a level editor, high scores, replays, and online rankings.

I remember playing the various Raiden games in the arcades. They were usually the games I stopped at first. Hmm, I may have to go to my local arcade tomorrow, I now have this odd urge to play Raiden again. If only I could remember which game my arcade has.

Very cool. No replacement for the real thing, but cool nonetheless. For those who have never played these prior to this, you seriously need to check out the original arcade versions of this, if you can even find it. Best shooters ever made, imo.

This game is insultingly easy.....and I'm not even one of those people that's a shooter-maniac. I made it through stage 4 or 5 without dying and just got too bored to continue. I guess Flash isn't powerful enough (or the programmer isn't good enough) to pump out anything really fast and furious.

Raptor for the PC was a nice Raiden-alike also... I fondly remember playing the hell out of it when Mountain King released it on their compilation disc.

Yes, while this Flash version is cool, it's still a poor man version of the original arcade. The arcade version is extremely difficult and miles better than this. I stopped playing the Flash version after I got to the 2nd level because it was just too freakin easy.

Blazing Star on Neo Geo is extremely hard. Is it even possible to beat that game without endless amounts of continues?

how good, how accurate was Jaguar conversion of Raiden I, was it on par with Raiden I on PS1 in Raiden Project or below that standard ?

There is a hard mode but you still won't start consistantly dying till level 6 or so.

Raptor rocked, I had just a demo of it though.

Best combination in the game is either Bendy Laser + Missles or Laser + Homing Missles. That way you have one "search and destroy weapon" and one "big power" weapon. Blue Laser + Homing Missles does the most power though, I've beaten some bosses in mere seconds with that combo.

Is there a way to save those flash games to the disk drive?
You can use adblock in firefox to get the URL for the .swf file and then use a download manager to grab the file...then you can play it offline in a browser.

Considering N (see above) is probably the most technically-impressive Flash game I'm aware of... so yeah.

If you have the standalone Flash Player, I'd use that for offline; it should run noticeably faster.

[EDIT: should be here ]

I remember my old Gravis gamepad came with software to map each gamepad button to a letter on the keyboard. I've moved on to better pads since then, but that came in handy for flash games like this.
