They are... it's one of the reasons Netflix's dropped its prices a bit back.

I thought NetFlix did because of pressure from Wal*Mart and Blockbuster... when did Amazon say they were entering the market as well?

They did it because of all 3. Wal Mart was already in the DVD rental business when Netflix dropped their prices... Blockbuster was as well.... they never SAID it was because of Amazon, various news articles referencing it did though... from sources... let me see if I can find any articles.

News of Amazon's intentions were disclosed Thursday afternoon by Netflix founder and CEO Reed Hastings during the company's earnings call. Netflix said it would cut prices to ensure future growth in the face of competition from Blockbuster, Wal-Mart Stores and soon Amazon......
