Are they for daisy chaining, such that, if you have three devices, and two ports on your PC, you can still use all three?

Or is it to share one firewire HD between two machines?
 
It's for daisy chaining (afaik, Firewire 400 supports about 64 devices in a line), but you should be able to hook it up to two computers at the same time if that's what floats your boat.

So then what's the point of firewire hubs?
