It's a great deal, but I'm not sure about getting the standard edition at this point. I'll rather wait for a cheap GOTY edition deal.

Civ IV Complete on the other hand is also $8.99. I'm not sure but I believe you can buy it for $3.99 if you have a coupon.

It is actually a turn based strategy game. The civ games are awesome

Why don't you try the demo? It was my first introduction to Civ and I probably spent 5 hours with the demo alone. You'll probably see pretty fast if the game is for you or not.
