Amazon Fire Sticks Recommendations

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I was wondering if anyone could recommend me any of these Amazon Fire Sticks?

For the record, I do not have a 4K television so I'm not in need of something with high resolution like that. Speed would be good so I'm up for that but I don't know what to choose and if there's any recommendations I would appreciate it.

Edit: I currently have a 5G Home Internet by MetroPCS.

Get the 4k max when it's on sale.
Well I don't want to wait for a sale if I don't have to and like I said I have an old television set. It has two HDMI ports but I don't need anything fancy. I'm more worried about speed than I am resolution.

Are there any real or significant differences besides the resolution?
No clue but I asked chatgpt for you

Yes, there are several differences between the 4K and non-4K versions of the Amazon Fire TV Stick beyond just the resolution:

  1. Performance: The 4K versions (especially the Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max) have faster processors and more RAM, resulting in quicker navigation, faster app loading, and smoother overall performance compared to the standard Fire TV Stick.
  2. HDR Support: The 4K versions support advanced video technologies like Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, which enhance color and contrast, while the non-4K version usually only supports basic HDR (if any at all).
  3. Audio Quality: The 4K models support Dolby Atmos audio, delivering more immersive sound if you have compatible speakers or a sound system.
  4. Wi-Fi Capabilities: The Fire TV Stick 4K Max includes Wi-Fi 6 support, offering better wireless performance on compatible routers, while the non-4K versions typically use Wi-Fi 5.
  5. Storage and RAM: The 4K Max version has more RAM (2GB) compared to the standard HD Fire Stick (1GB), which can affect multitasking and general speed.
  6. Price: Naturally, the 4K versions are more expensive, but the added features often justify the cost even if you don't have a 4K TV yet.

So even if you don't need 4K resolution, the enhanced performance and feature set of the 4K or 4K Max model may still make it worth choosing.

Well, I called a techie friend of mine and he convinced me to buy the $30 one.

Damn you. Damn you to the deepest pits of Gehinnom. And my friend too. Now I'm going to be broke as fuck but I had to get this. You just had to convince me, didn't you?

Edit: it's also apparently the newest version.

Is a surprise ending still a surprise when you specifically request a surprise ending?

I collect VHS tapes I collect VHS tapes getting casually rejected as neither techie nor friend that's harsh
I pretty much told him he helped convince me at the very least.

Get the 4k, for the performance alone. Otherwise the navigation is sloooooooooooow.

You can even play Playstation Remote Play on it, although it has to be via sideload (PXPlay). Works great, even for my PS4.
The Silk browser on the 4k stick is also quite smooth, great for streaming your favorite video sites. Arr!

Get the 4k max. It has 16gb of storage while all the others have 8gb. Since it's android there's not much free space on them and updates can take up to 700mb-1gb of space. The updates will cause the storage error and bog them down since there's no room for the cache, that is if you have several apps installed. I upgraded my fire sticks to the 4k max with 16gb storage in my rooms and they are working fine, about as good as my fire cube v2.

I bought a 4K fire stick but decided I hate the interface so much that I went back to Roku. The 4K fire stick ended up on a bedroom tv.

I have a 15 year old UN46C7000 in my office. It was a smart TV but even when new it wasnt that 'smart'.
My main TV is a year old and has GoogleTV built in but still has an appleTV attached as well, both get used.

I bought a new LG tv recently. The OS is shit, it's super slow and barely has any apps. I set it to auto-tune to the hdmi port my fire tv is plugged into. Tvs will slow down over the years, especially with android on them so getting a streaming device will provide a better experience than the stock tv os.

For Amazon its best to go with the FireTV Cube and not the Stick, it's too underpowered and will struggle to run basic streaming apps after a few years. The latest cubes even have a HDMI passthrough if you wish to connect an older cable or OTA/DTT box.

Yeah I found it out. It's called Fandango Now. I didn't know the name was changed because it's been a long time since I used it.
The name change started 4 years ago (where it had both names displayed when the app opened) and completed over a year ago (completely eliminating the Vudu title). How was it a deal breaker if you haven't used it in that long?

I probably shouldn't have said it was a deal breaker but it would have been disappointing since I have a large library on there and stuff I want my friend to see.

Anyways, I'm glad it's there.

Thank you all for your recommendations.
