Why the hell are monitors so high?

High refresh rate + IPS + high res + G-sync. The xb270hu is a fantastic monitor; check out the review thread here on GAF, Durante gushes about it.

Your run of the mill 1080p monitor will be quite cheap, though.

EDIT: and @ Audie, you can get a refurb xb270hu model that is supposedly like new for $620. Check Acers outlet page on Amazon.

Go with 1440p unless you have 980Ti * 2/Titan X. The 144Hz/FPS is much more easily attainable and still a fantastic pixel density

But wouldn't anything beyond 30fps would still look great with G-Sync?

It looks like a big improvement over non-GSYNC, yes. But I can certainly still tell when playing competitive CS:GO and etc.

I have the ROG Swift 1440p/144Hz/GSYNC monitor, and personally have no interest in going to 4K for a long time (not the least of which is the shitty windows scaling for such a high res)

Dunno. I don't think the game is worth your time, even if it was free. The experience scarred me so much that I don't ever want to see it again, especially not a 13" statue hanging on my shelf.

For being a narrative driven game, the narrative isn't really very compelling or particularly good.

I was not a fan of the stealth segments either.
