I'm not a fan, but I knew one of their sons in high school, who was a decent guy. So, uh... Go America!

Who wins?

Europe, clearly. Only one of those pictures makes cheesy eighties rock blare out in my head.

Da-da-daaaa-daaaa... Da-da-Da-da-daaaaa...

Well, this appreciation thread sucks. I'm gonna make one for C + C Music Factory and see which group is more favorably remembered.

fuck you guys, America kicks ass.

Ventura Highway, Tin Man, Sister Golden Hair, Horse With No Name, Sandman, Lonely People, etc.

Great band. Great music for when you just wanna relax, or when you're drunk, or both.

Europe wins, mainly because "The Final Countdown" combined with "Sirius" by the Alan Parsons Project is the greatest 1-2 punch in the history of music.

I love how he had to specify "(the group)" in the topic so that he didn't get flamed by Che et al. :lol :D

Shame on you, Loki. Re-read my post.

Yes, Matlock, your post was very clever (well, FoneBone was clever, actually). :P But NOT CLEVER ENOUGH TO ERASE THE HORROR OF THE KENT STATE INCIDENT!!!!11 ;) :D

amen sir. nothing fuels a good buzz than spinning their greatest hits album. save for muskrat love and woman tonight. Damn

The otherwise formidable sound criminals of "Europe" appear to have already been apprehended and contained in some sort of Phantom Zone. Across the pond we see the neer-do-wells of "America"; while having giant Indians growing from their spines, also seem to have fallen on the floor LOLing at the punchline of a good old peyote and alcohol-fueled joke. Like, that guy in brown, I'm pretty sure he just farted. Just look at his Indian's stunned, slightly agitated expression! Meanwhile, "Asia" has a Roger Dean Dragon astride black waves with some sort of probably weather-controlling pearl. Yes, we have a winner.

Come on...

IT WAS THE HEEEAAT OF THE MOMENT
TELLING ME WHAT YOUR HEART MEANT...

mary,
have you seen better days?
and do you find different ways?
and does he really mean that much to your heart?

carry,
all of the ways you can
find another man
and lead him directly there to the source
you got to chart his course

cause its
only in your heart
that makes you want to start it all again..

wake up
from this elusive dream
you got to change the scene
its getting so hard to see through the end

break down
all of the walls you can
you need a helpin hand
im sure theres someone there just for you
hes trying to make it too..

cause its
only in your heart
that makes you want to start it all again..

you cant disregard your friends...
but life gets so hard when youve reached the end...

mary...
have you seen better days.

*swigs whiskey*

Okay, I've done some research--and EUROPE WINS. Sample lyrics:

Tell me the story, tell me the legend
Tell me the tales of war
Tell me just one time,
What it was like before
Bring me the feeling, right in that moment
When a heart for battle cries
Find me the treasure where the legend lies.

If I were a noble ancient knight
I’d stand by jour side to rule and fight
It will always feel the same
When I call out your name.

Ninja survive, in dreams I walk by your side
Ninja survive, with you there’s no need to hide.

A handful of sayings are more than a reason
For me to feel this way
I’d like to be near you
Maybe for just one day
So tell me the legend, tell me the story
Tell me the tales of war
Tell me just one time
What it was like before.

NINJA SURVIIIIIIVE

I saw America at a hot-air balloon festival. I think I still have a drumstick signed by the drummer. I was young then, and I really don't remember any of their songs besides 'Horse With No Name'. I will have to check them out.
