Questions for you fine folks regarding Amiibo Cards:
If I'm just starting to catch on to the Amiibo + Animal Crossing New Leaf thing, which series are good to get?
What are the differences/benefits of Amiibo cards vs the figures? What can one add to AC that another one can't?
Are cards, like figures, region-free? If I get Japanese cards, for example, will my North American copy (digital) of AC read them? Will language changes carry over?
Thanks for the help folks. I've lost my damn mind and decided to grab some Amiibo for Animal Crossing.
Amiibo figures are limited to specific characters is what it kinda all comes down to. I have both, and really would recommend purchasing both but here are their functionality;
Figures:
As far as I know (could be wrong) you have to have them in order to play Amiibo Festival, you cannot substitute cards for figures.
Cards:
You can use these in Happy Home Designer to create your favorite characters house, or just have a lot more people to help than the game offers. You can now use the amiibo cards in New Leaf to invite specific characters to live in your town too. Cards can be used to unlock certain costumes in Super Mario Maker too.
The super nice thing about amiibo is that they are all region free, and languages do cross over. When I bought HHD, I initially only had Japanese cards and once scanned all appeared in my game as English characters.
As far as series goes, I wouldn't necessarily recommend a single series, if you're collecting casually then I would just seek out your favorite villagers. However, if I had to recommend a series I would say start with Welcome Amiibo, it's the newest series, and the smallest. Series 1 through 4 have 100 cards per series, whereas Welcome Amiibo has 50, and as of today Nintendo has only announced the single series. There is a 6 card Hello Kitty collaboration but that wasn't announced for North America, and ebay and Amazon prices are whack (not sure your location).
This is all the info I can think of at the moment but I hope this helps you out!
Yes this is true! If you have some Legend of Zelda amiibo then scanning certain ones can invite Ganon, Epona, Medli, or even Wolf Link!It does very much, thank you.
I'm more interested in using these for New Leaf, since they added that update with Amiibo support. I understand there are a lot of different Nintendo characters that can come to live in your town so long as you have their amiibo? Is that true?
Little late, but positive feedback for rj118 and Tyeforce.
Is anyone on here still trading amiibo cards? I have a few I wouldn't mind trading, but can't trade for a few weeks.
