Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Went to local TRU because the electronics dude hasn't steered me wrong yet. Asked about Mega Man, was told they don't come out til tomorrow (stupid but w/e) and they only had 2 that weren't preordered.

So basically there goes Mega Man for me. If anybody gets an extra please let me know.

Went to my local TRU today around noon and talked to the guy there. He had no idea about that rumor about a Lucario restock. He also told me that new ones in the back are being released tomorrow. Said they have a bunch of Megaman's, but only one Ike and it is a preorder.

When I was milling about 2 other people had come in and asked about it all, and one other guy talked to the worker when I was talking to him so I'm gonna assume it will be packed at opening tomorrow. Don't know if I will bother.
If the guy that told me he found 4 Pit's at a Best Buy is a gaffer, hi.

If it shows "delivered" for today, I'd still keep a lookout. Carriers aren't supposed to, but sometimes mark off their deliveries for the day as delivered even when they're not done with their route, yet, I think, judging from a few times when the same thing has happened to me.

Got to go pick up my new 3DS tomorrow anyways at eb games but not expecting any extras...which is fine.
 
I preordered a Toad on Amazon, and then got one when Best Buy opened up orders. I was planning to cancel the Amazon order but after BB cancelled so many Majora's Mask orders the last few days (although not mine, it shipped a few minutes ago) I am worried to cancel the thing. If I end up with two, I will help out someone here.

The stress of these stupid things is killing me.
 
My Sonic amiibo came in! Now the only ones that I need/want to get are:

- Lucario
- Shulk
- Rosalina
- Pikachu
- Charizard
- Megaman
- Mewtwo (We all know its coming)

Yeah wow, they didn't... that's 3rd party sellers...

Also, price increasing with demand is basic economics so... even if Nintendo did do that (which, again, they didn't) it would just be them abiding by the rules of capitalism that the entire country runs on...

People are weird... these are just toys, OK? Just like beanie babies and tickle me elmo and all the other hard to get fad toys... this just happens sometimes, OK? The world will keep spinning.
 
I'm really debating making the post work drive to Fry's tonight to see if I can snag a dedede. If nothing else, I get to go to Fry's which is always a win anyways. Got my shipping confirmation for Meta Knight which means all that remains is Sheik and Dedede.
 
Well that's interesting. Newegg is shipping out one figure from my order of all the wave 3 ones.

I kinda want to just cancel the full order and just find them around but don't want to lose out on the Ike in it since I haven't heard much about his availability.

Watching everyone get their Ike and Megaman is making me impatient for gamestop to get theirs. That a cool surprise from Amazon though for forgetting to tell you they shipped your DDD. I wonder if they will ship you another lol.

I was just at a local TRU and the worker basically told me the same thing. Also stated they had all the new ones, but they don't have any extra Ike's; only enough for preorders. I wonder if that's going to be the same everywhere.

Of the ones to be released, I kind of want MegaMan since I'm a fan, but I'm not sure cause I don't know what I'll use it for, but I really think I want DDD to use in Kirby, though I'm not even positive I'll get the game (far too much stuff coming out that I want).

I want an Ike and I am really considering Dedede....

guess i'm right. Ike will be the rare one. altho not super surprised from the Marth situation.

Target is *supposed* to put out Ike, Dedede, and Mega Man according to people I spoke to. Fred Meyer put them out as soon as they got them, for whatever reason.

Wal Mart continues to only have Wave 1 around here.

TRU is getting Ike, Dedede, Sonic, and Mega Man (though Sonic might be delayed there...we'll see). Wal-Mart is supposedly getting some tomorrow too. Don't know what specifically.

I spoke to my contact at my local TRU...she's got Ike, Mega Man, Sonic and King Dedede set aside for me with a release date of tomorrow.
 
I want Mega Man so bad. Had it preordered with GameStop but a week or two ago, I checked online and my status was changed to "Closed". So I'm kinda pissed/confused. I chose the "Ship To Store" option, not sure if that has anything to do with it. When I checked what "Closed" means, the description says it means the order has been cancelled or completely shipped :(
 
So if anybody wants to be my bestest friend and trade their NA Villager for my NA Shulk + whatever else you think is needed, I could do that.

It should be fine if it is ship to store. My shulk was closed for awhile, but I picked up my ship to store preorder just fine.

Thats what happened with my shulk order. It was closed out a week or so ago. ThenI got the text on Tuesday saying its ready for pick up.

Walmarts are straight up pathetic. Mine has Mario, Peach, I think Kirby and Pikachu. It looks virtually the same as when I checked shortly after launch in November.

You're good! Closed is a good thing! It means your amiibo are shipping from the warehouse to your local Gamestop. They call it closed because you can't make any changes to the order anymore at that point.
 
back from Gamestop to get my Shulk

was so paranoid that they'd hand me one with something broken or with a really bad paint problem

was really pleased!

Welcome home Shulk baby! You can sit next to Pit. Now we need Ness :3

They told me the store got 15, all pre-orders obviously.

Because GameStop.com orders were made when it still said Feb 1 and the computer assumed your orders were transferred to the store on that date, it's a glitch not a cancellation

Ahhh, I wish I had that Wario. The only large toy from that line I've ever seen in Canada is Donkey Kong, who looks a little goofy.

I've been working really late these past few days and haven't been able to get to Gamestop to pick up my Shulk :(

Called Gamestop and thankfully they said they are doing more like a week hold instead of 48 hour on amiibo because they know how rare they are! Thanks Gamestop!

I recommend getting their name & make sure they wrap that up in a plastic bag and write your name on the outside "Hold for CH4OS until 2/18/2015"

Heard too many times "some other employee thought it was on to sell" or "I trusted their word but didn't get their name"
 
Oh wow, thanks everyone for informing me about the amiibo preorder situation for GameStop! I had no idea, I tried searching online about it but came up short. Thanks again! I already preordered Ness through the UK Amazon so let's hope that goes well lol.

That's nice of them but playing with fire really. It's just hard to trust everyone being on the same page about your order and it not being sold after 48 hours.
 
There is a post on reddit claiming you can now order Shulk for WIS at your local gamestop. Release date is supposedly 5/1... call ahead before wasting a trip.
 
Got a text message from the wife telling me that my Shulk amiibo arrived! The tracking had it listed as coming tomorrow, but who am I to complain about receiving it a day early? :D

I still think I can make it before the 48 hours, just nice to hear they're even considering changing the policy when it comes to amiibo. But definitely noted.

What happened to your sparkles Jason? And how's you're Link "looking"? ;]
