Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

I got the idea from Reddit. Some were saying Toys R Us got new shipments in today of Wave 3B. I asked and explained a scalper took them all on Friday morning (truth ). So they let me in the stock doorway. I suggest if you can go ask nicely in person of they got a new FedEx shipment today. They gave me 2 of each Ike Sonic Mega Man and Dedede. One set for me and my daughter and one for my good friend. Good luck

I wonder what determines what figures different TRUs get shipped to them. My TRU got in more amiibos in today, but it was all commons (a lot of which seemed to be commons that were out of stock from last week's sale), and nothing more for wave 3b. However, they did get in 8 Lucarios and 4 of Fox.

If my order doesn't get canceled I can trade a Meta Knight for one of the following. Keep me in mind.

I need a

Captain Falcon (US)
Pit (US)
Little Mac (US)
Villager (Any Region because it is so rare)
Wii Fit Trainer (US)

Possibly (depending on whether I can get one between now and then)

Sonic (US)
Ike (US)
Mega Man (US)
King Dedede (US)

I got an extra Falcon I can trade! Let me know whenever.

Ness lucina and robin will sell out in minutes whenever they go up. Thks ks the future of amiibo. Selling out in minutes online and lines waiting for stores to open. This is awful

true, the post i saw on Reddit was for Lucario, Toon Link, and Mega Man. So not sure, I really hope these arent someone's preorders... But it has been a few days so hopefully not. They said they came today.

Great, now I not only have to get up at the butt crack of dawn and sit for hours in below zero weather to even have a chance at Meta Knight, but I may not even get one since all of the store stock is pre-purchased.

Wonderful.

I was just going to say (type)... I just saw someone say that Lucario and Fox were shipped to their local TRU. I saw about six Foxes near me this past Saturday.

Seriously. God forbid I want to actually spend my day off away from a computer screen and with my boyfriend.

I'm not even joking when I say this stuff is destroying my life. I am at my computer checking stocks, driving around checking stocks, or wishing i was checking stocks all day every day.

That's why I bend my knee and pledge everlasting fealty to the Gods that I was able to get preorders in on Amazon UK for the 30 seconds they were up a few weeks ago. A huge weight off my shoulders.

I missed that because I actually have a life to take care of. It is getting at the point where it's become too silly.

I was away for meta knight, lol, well I have mine preordered from before anyway.

By the way, was there a limit on him?

Yes, 3 MK amiibo per cart.

I have three spare pit's if you want I can send you pics so you can pick which one you would like. I would love to trade for a metaknight.

Sounds awesome. I will trust you though. I would prefer that the packaging is in great shape and no big flaws on the figure.

I try to have one of each to keep sealed and 1 to open but for most of the hard to come by ones I only have 1 or none at all. The ones that I listed I don;t have any of so I prefer to only open if I have an extra.

Not trying to single you out in particular, but you're the most recent one I saw.

People that keep buying extras of figures that the rest of us are already having a hard time getting one of is irritating. I see it every single day here on GAF, a place where people are getting mad about scalpers, and I find it ironic. When Shulk was available again on Gamestop.com there were lots of people on here ordering extras and posting about it. It continued to happen with Rosalina and onward with Ike and now Meta Knight.

If you already have one, and your a gaffer, then you know how difficult they are to get. Why are you ordering more?

Not sure if you're trying to imply the rest of us don't have a life to take care of, but I've got a full time job and a life of my own. I just happened to get lucky with that one.

We're in the minority compared to scalpers.
And we're trading, not profiteering.

Meta Knight is going to be rare as hell, I can feel it.

All the exclusives are. I would bet on Rosalina being the most rare though since Target never restocks their exclusive stuff. Shulk is getting another go, and Lucario has been showing up randomly at TRUs. Meta Knight hasn't even hit so it is hard to judge.

I already have japanese meta knight waiting in the mail but I bought it at a premium. It would have been nice to stag meta knight at original retail value.

Why even buy multiples at all? Using them as "trade tokens" is almost as bad as scalping in my opinion.

How is that bad? It's win win for both parties. Some people had the foresight to get an extra Little Mac but weren't able to find a Meta Knight, for example. If they want to get an extra to hopefully trade for the one they missed out on, good for them.

I took it to mean that he was saying, he missed it because he can't stay by the computer every moment. Not that, unlike some, he has a life.

Intentions matter. That being said I constantly feel like I am missing out since I only try to get one of each. Never going to have ones to trade for the ones I missed this way and will eventually have to pay scalpers which I do not want to do. I just really want one of each and don't seem to have a good way to do that unless I start buying more then one of rares when I have a chance.

It's not like he has 3 pits and is just keeping them locked up and bragging about it.

He has 3 pits that he is trading so that he can help people get amiibos that they may never be able to get otherwise.

They are using their opportunity to profit. Just the profit this time is another figure.

I bought three, but I was only counting on buying one...the one I got from TRU amidst the Christmas cancelations/reinstatements. Then I walked in when I was buying diapers for my daughter and saw six, so I bought two more. I kept one, gave one to a friend, and I have a third one that I'm trying to sell (for cost). Usually I don't do that, but I know how hard he is to find so I jumped on the opportunity.

I did the same thing with Marth. I saw five, bought three. One I kept (then sold), and the other two I gave to friends seeking them out. Rosalina was a little different...I wasn't counting on getting a US version, so I imported. Then I got sick, went to Target before hitting up the doc-in-the-box across the street from it that Sunday morning, and I lucked into one (and sold the import to make back what I spent on it).

For me, I'd rather get extra and help someone out on here than a scalper get ahold of it and jack up the price. I don't sell the amiibo that I've sold to make a profit, it's to help out people that I know want to have them to collect.

Please don't twist it into personal attacks because it's not my intention. I'm saying that it's getting to the point where it become too silly that we might have to camping out on computers and phones so we could get our preorders in order to complete our collections.

I'm saying that people here having their own lives to taking care of but Nintendo and Retailers are making it incredible hard for people to enjoy their new-founded hobby, Amiibo.

I took it to mean that he was saying, he missed it because he can't stay by the computer every moment. Not that, unlike some, he has a life.

He understand what I meant.

I agree with you completely. The amiibo situation is so dire you almost have to buy two of the rare amiibos else you might not get the chance for another.

But this topic always goes nowhere. People will continue to hate scalpers (or those that resell, trade) and scalpers will continue not to care. The circle of amiibo.

They are using their opportunity to profit. Just the profit this time is another figure.

It's better than people keeping extras locked up in their plastic tombs for eternity, gathering dust.

Also, there's really no monetary profit involved in a trade. Just 2 people getting what they want.

I recommend that people on here order 2 of each. Especially the rare ones. They can be used to trade one that they missed out on prior. As long as people aren't ordering an ungodly amount like 10 or 20 then who am I to judge?

I would rather GAFers order an extra amiibo than scalpers (which I am sure there are scalpers on here but a much lower % than elsewhere)

I missed out on a ton of figures (esp lately) so I am going to order 2 when possible myself to trade. That is part of collecting amiibos. If you want them all you are going to have to trade. I don't want to pay a scalper so that is my strategy.

I just really want one of each and don't seem to have a good way to do that unless I start buying more then one of rares when I have a chance.

Intentions do matter. Heck, I've done trades before too, but I don't go stockpiling certain figures for ransom for when I need something else. If I need a trade I look on GAF to see what people are looking for that I have available near me then I go get it. I traded my only Lucario for a Rosalina. A few days later my Toys R Us got Lucario again so I bought him again but now I'm possibly trading him away again to get Ike.

Shulk and Meta Knight in particular are so frustrating. When Shulk came back up there were lots of people on here chanting and excited about scoring an extra, none of which responded to me when I asked if they'd be willing to trade or sell it to someone who hasn't even gotten one yet. Simply put, regardless of your intentions you're just adding to the problem of them being so difficult to get.

I got Ike, Shulk, and Mega Man heading my way. Gave a list to my mother and sis visiting Paris and they found an Ike at a Micromania (and got a New 3DS XL charging cradle)! Now ... just need to find Sonic. Stupidly didn't secure him with my Mega Man order at Target.com ... oi.

I can't speak for everyone, and I haven't done much trading here, but I end up with multiples because I order from different shops assuming at least one order will be cancelled (with Amiibos here it has been pretty good but in most cases when I order something this happens, and I'm happy if I end up with just one).

The last wave of shulks are for May and with all the cancellations, who knows what will happen. I wouldn't want to promise anyone a spare and then have to back out. I think for the most part people here try to help at a fair price/trade here.

Exactly. If I ever have a problem trading one then I will keep it and open it. For the common one I have a boxed version and an opened version. Would like to eventually be able to do this with all of them but I doubt I will be able to get them all.

If my options for acquiring lucario turn out to be buy one at well above retail value on the internet or buy two rosalinas and see if somebody who missed rosalina but has lucario wants to trade, there's nothing wrong with me attempting the latter option.
