Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

THANK YOU. I was hoping this was the reason. Okay i can rest a little easier now

I didn't even know you could go in and pay in store until my boyfriend mentioned paying for it this weekend. The only other time I've ordered online for in store pick up, it went fine, so I assumed this would be the same but alas. :(

If that's the case, that'd be good- we were gonna see about paying it off today so yeah... guess we should get on that. lol

Yeah, I just saw your above comment. Thanks for the info! Sorry, it's just hard to trust your preorder is safe sometimes, so it made me worry. lol

Your all welcome :). I order ship to store ALL the time and I used to worry about this stuff too so I went in asked for breakdowns of the whole process and basically its the same as ordering in store except your shipments come in special and marked as ship to store orders. They are set aside till they figure out to whom they belong in store. This is what my local GS manager told me. And he used to work in the warehouse prior to working in the store and corporate after that before moving to the retail side of things so I trust his story :). Also remember GS preorders unlike other stores only have the total quantity in the system that they know they will get. That's why preorders cutoff so sharply in there system unlike other stores. This is why GS is so good a fulfilling preorders. Cause they don't put up more than they will get.

This is also why Wave 4 isn't up yet. They will not allow preorders till they know exact numbers.

Amiibros, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is my Lucario shipped from TRU today, so should have that in hand soon.

The bad news is a Target about 30 minutes away from me showed 1 Sheik in stock. Drove out there to be at opening and went in. Looked around for it, had a dude look in the back, and couldn't find it. So, still out a Sheik. Guess I have to hope I run into one at Gamestop on the 13th or that my pre-order with Amazon actually ships at the end of Feb.

Since I ordered it online and had it shipped to the store, are they going to put their fatty stickers on the cardboard like they do with all their normal merchandise?

Think I might go in before or after class, but what're the chances my GS will know about the Wave 3 shipment if I called them on Saturday & they didn't know?

Yup unfortunately they always do with my stuff... if you become friends with them/get there early enough maybe not I ask them not too every time and usually they just put it barely on the corner of the case/clear plastic so they scan it and thats it.

Just so all those with Closed ship to store orders for Shulk know
It always says this when the order is being processed prior to ship to store.
You won't get any notification that's going to the store just when it gets there.
This is how it's always been. But be happy that means its going there just make sure you paid off and your set...

The gamestop clerk wouldn't let me pay it off prior to it arriving. Said he couldn't do it.

Drove an hour out to a Target that brickseek said had Rosalina. Called and they confirmed to still have 1 left. Got here and they said they are sold out. Still says they have one in stock. I am so frustrated with this crap. They are all over my craigslist for crazy prices.

Unless they've been on there a long while, the stickers come off pretty easily actually. Also applying heat with a hair dryer makes them come off even easier.

I've gotten chummy with the employees lately. I'll go ask them to help an amiibro out..

For fucking what?

Dishonest business practices. Not supplying enough product to meet preorders when the preorders were willfully offered by Nintendo through retailers, and for not supplying sufficient stock to retailers that advertised exclusive products but did not have those products for the vast majority of customers who shopped on the advertised release day.

there's gotta be some legal language to make it work

Are you serious?

of course
not

I call BS on that - I've always been told I can pay off any percentage of the purchase I want at any time.

Ship to store / web pre-orders work differently. You can't add money to them, you can only pick them up. (At least, with my 5 years with the company, that's how its always worked for me.)

My gamestop clerk said the same, I think I'm just going to go again and talk to someone else

Hmmm... maybe it has something to do with the fact the order is already in process... I know you can't change any payment method on ship to home orders after they start that process... I used paypal so idk...

lol that hidden trollin. i was about to go off on the sickness of lawsuits in america.

I find a lawsuit way too extreme reaction.
Best way is to vote with your wallet. I am not buying another Nintendo hardware until they get their act together. Going to sell the pre-orders I have already just because I want to be fair to people.

I would quit Amiibos all together, but my collector side won't let me drop it.

I ordered online for in-store pickup, and I was able to walk into the store and pay it off. Did it last week for Shulk, even have the receipt in my pocket as we speak.

I haven't kept up with amiibos enough so forgive me if this is a silly question :p

Did mega man and meta knight release in the US yet? I pre ordered them back in December on best buys website and the order is still processing

I really want a Luma amiibo (by itself). They're my favorite addition to the Mario series in the last 10 years.

And I'll take them of other colors as well.

Wonder when Nintendo is going to start shortpacking alternate color Amiibos (that's where the real hunt begins).

I understand you're upset about it, but there is no basis for this. If the world worked like this, I could literally throw up a lawsuit against the Giant Food (grocery store in the Maryland area) corporation because they were out of their Giant Brand Salad Mix when it was on sale.

There is nothing dishonest about what Nintendo has done (AKA Try to sell a damn toy). Is scalping dishonest? I sure think so, but it is technically legal and by the rules. But Nintendo is not engaging in that. They are selling their products to the stores to then sell them to the customers. At the end of the day, the insufficient stock could be because of a multitude of non-malicious reasons, but we simply don't hold the intimate knowledge of the situation.

EDIT: I now see you are being dishonest. Thanks for wasting time.

Weird. Like I said, any time I've had to process that kind of order, the only time money could be added was when the item was picked up. Granted, I haven't had to process that type of order any time recently, but...

There have been similar cases in the past the idea is that especially for smash bros. they were advertised as an accessory to the game. So it could easily be argued(Same with the Gamecube adapters) that there should be enough of each character(or accessory) per sold copy of the game. It's been done in the past so I don't see why it couldn't apply here too?

Not that I would sign it but I think you could get away with a win from it...

Part of me wonders if they'll just ship Shulk with the New 3DS XL & Majora's Mask 3D. That'd make things a bit more easy & we'd know the exact date, but damn that'll be busy with a new handheld, major game release, & then adding an exclusive amiibo on top of all that.

But not buying their stuff solves nothing. As sales sink, Nintendo forecasts the need for less product, so when they do stumble into something popular like Amiibos or limited-edition N3DSes, they woefully undermatch demand and piss off their customers. The only way to fix this problem is for management at NoA to be less incompetent at forecasting.

No, not yet. In a couple weeks.

So as someone who wants to get a few amiibos I am having a hard time understanding the release date(s) for the most recent set.

As an example I see Shulk posted in the thread, yet gamestops site says its not out until the 13th, same as Ike, and no store within 100mi has them.
I'd like a Shulk and the fire emblem chars for the upcoming 3DS game content [I am assuming Shulk is will do something with Xenoblade 3D], but the distribution of these things seems totally batshit!

No global release dates add to the confusion, Shulk's out in Canada but not in America.

YIKES! Had to scroll back 22 pages to find the latest updated list. But...here it is.

Gaf, I never received an email for my TRU Lucario being processed but when I look it up the status says "Item(s) located in stock)". It also I can expect my package on or before 2/4. Should I worry?

You're quite welcome [rolls eyes]

That's why we picked the thread title, yeah. It's a mess in north america.

Everybody's out in certain countries.
I think a few stores in NA got shulk early.
Some people said, "Screw dealing with these supply issues" and ordered from overseas at the first possible moment.

FWIW, north jersey bergen county Targets should have plenty of rosalinas in stock due to the snowstorm and the blue laws having stores closed down yesterday.

Weather's still very yucky up here.

Hackensack one still has 46 in stock according to Brickseek.
Yeah, I was acrually gonna post about that, but you beat me to it. I was even thinking of attempting for another Rosalina, maybe a Sheik, but with this weather? Screeew that. Stayin' put right at home.
