Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Sent a message to pete_clarf (who's co-running our big community and running the tournament).

But I might have 5 Rosalina's I can give away for free if we don't end up using them in the giveaway. But just in case, the first 5 people to PM me will be added to a list. And if they don't go to the giveaway I will just give them out to the people on the list. I'll post when I get 5 PMs (I'll edit this too).

Please only PM if you tried to get one this morning and were screwed, or if you couldn't get to a target today. Don't message if you already got one. Thanks! :D

Kind of want to enter in case my online Target order gets messed up, but I won't. Good luck to everyone trying to get one, and props to Mononoke for doing this!

It's the whole culture to it. The lining up, the hoarding, the botched pre-orders, the frenzy. I'm just sick of it to be honest.

I don't have time to deal with it. I canceled my Best Buy Pre-orders (and my Lucario order) and when the Toon Link and Bowser come in from Best Buy I'll probably just return them.
Same here. Its stupid and not worth the time wasted.

Might be a stupid question but... I just don't get why Rosalina would be more common than the other 3 exclusive figures?

How do GameStop, Best Buy and TRU benifit from selling a less common Amiibo?

Just wondering for all Amiibros here, if ive had a Little Mac on preorder at Gamestop for two months and it still hasn't been shipped to the store should I keep my preorder?

Dammit. I want Lil Mac sooooo bad! I really think I'm gonna have to pay mucho dollars to get him.
I know your pain. I even grabbed an extra Rosalina this morning in the hopes of making a trade, but it's looking less and less likely. And Entertainment Earth probably isn't going to come through.

Worst part is, in addition to being the last one I need, he's one of the ones I wanted most in general. Sucks, man.

The only obvious answer: NoA's incompetence strikes again

This black mark on Dedede's hat will haunt me forever. I hope I can find a replacement soon and I will return this one. Toys R Us seems to be the next retailer that will get Wave 3 here in Canada.

Does it hurt to keep the pre-order?

You weren't charged anything right? I would go down to the store and make sure the order was even in the computer. My guess is, even if it was they prob canceled it.

She's a popular Mario-series character. She was the second most shipped Amiibo to Australia and New Zealand, it was just odd that she was made exclusive in the States.

They probably pay a lot less. No way Gamestop and Target are paying the same amount for their exclusive Amiibos.

Nintendo figures that Rosalina (from a Mario game) would be higher in demand than the others. Look at how many Bowsers and Peach's there are.

Damn, it feels like rarity has gotten worse and worse with each wave. Compared to Wave 1 where 9/12 characters weren't too hard to get, Wave 3 only has Bowser who can reliably be obtained. Granted only 5/11 have been released so far, but I don't think any of the other characters will be common with the exception of Sonic and maybe Mega Man.

I think the difference with the availability of the first Wave and now is that half of them were Mario characters that already have 10,000 toy related things out there so most people overlooked them and still do to this day. On top of that, people were unsure whether they wanted one or not. I know there were of a lot of people commenting on how "stupid" they looked and saying "why would anyone want these...they don't do anything interesting".

Shulk seems to be 2/13 as well.

Thanks. :) I can never remember the exact date for Shulk.

Wow, I'm surprised. I saw a lot of Toon Link last week with Bowser at TRU. It was Sheik that sold out even last week (the first day TRU decided to sell Bowser/Toon Link early). And I'm hearing most stores getting their Wave 3 release date stock are only getting a couple Sheik per store.

Didn't know Toon Link was also that rare. Wish I had bought more for others. =/

I still think "as of now"... Shulk/Lucario/Sheik are the current front runners for the new Holy Trinity.

I don't think Toon Link will be too hard to find going by initial numbers. He does seem to be selling out fast, but that is just release day craze.

I refuse to believe that Lucario is being called a rare. Like seriously, WTF Nintendo. There better be restocks for him.

Target barely had preorders open...we're talking hours. The other three had them open for what seemed like weeks. With the same amount of stock, Target can put more on shelves. And it's easier to enforce one-per-person rules in person than online.

So happy to read most of you looking for Rosalina had happy endings :)) Now I'm jelly because here in Mexico it was delayed (and the whole Wave 3) till the end of freaking March. You go to retails and everything is full of Peach and Luigi amiibo. Some stores don't even carry amiibo anymore and even Mario is starting to get difficult to find. That's why I had to accept the horrible reality of not collecting them :( It's impossible in here unless you import them and all.

Ran to 2 targets all were sold out... First one had a line of 25 ppl.

I hope they make more of her since she is an retailer exclusive.

Yep, me too. After the TRU/Lucario stuff, it's great to see such a major turn around. Thank god Target actually got good stock.

No fuckin idea what happened with Lucario. I wonder if they will even get more stock in coming weeks, because that release was pitiful.

How's the Rosalina hunt going everyone? I didn't go out earlier, weather's been pretty shitty. Still want that Toon Link though =/

Rosie doesn't seem hard to find in stores and Target even restocked it online. Guess they ordered more or maybe they got the Canadian stock, lol

anyway, i expect a flood of them on eBay which means they won't go for much now, thankfully.

I was out over the weekend and come back to a new thread. Good times. Never would have predicted for Amiibo's to get three OT's in such short time.

When I checked last week it is in their computer.

The strange thing though is Little Mac isn't even listed on GameStop's website.

Went to Destiny USA with my girlfriend and found a metric ton of the casual amiibos. Not surprised in the slightest, but I was hoping for at least a specialty store reselling them marked up. Nada.

Going to Traget bright and early tomorrow. I'll try and get on of you guys in need a Rosie as well.

I understand them out of stock feels. Hashtag shulk never forget 2015

Hey! I was at Target and Best Buy this morning in Syracuse! Target in Fayetteville and Best Buy in Dewitt. I was able to pick up all i needed.

Ah, okay. That's not so bad, then. Diddy's pretty common these days. I imagine the same will happen with Sheik.

I have a Toon Link pre-ordered at Amazon (along wth Mega Man and Sonic), but I was hoping to get one before March. Ah well, no big deal either way!

Sheik is in rare territory, i'm afraid :(

I don't think these will be a one off thing. I don't see why they would give retailers exclusives and not keep them around for at least a while.

Except for shulk, maybe.

So, I accidentally imported a second Marth from Japan. If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to sell it for retail plus shipping. It's not actually expected to arrive for another week, so I have no idea what condition the box might be in. PM me if you'd like it. Thanks!

Yeah, Shulk may be the exception if Gamestop wants to play the "used" market themselves. Not to mention they keep less stock of stuff in general it seems compared to other retailers.

I have no idea how to gauge the other Kirby characters since Kirby himself was common in the US. Then again Sheik being a rare despite being from the same series as the best selling Amiibo so far (Link) throws that piece of faith out the window.

Don't think we did.

Man... you know looking back, the one we went to really screwed up towards the end. We were literally like 10 steps away from the counter and then people behind us were like "LET'S PANIC" which essentially threw things out of order. Heck I was originally behind you but somehow that girl got snuck inbetween. Luckily I saw there were still enough stock so I just let it go but if it wasn't for those behind us that started to panic and step up the pace, things would have gone better and that woman probably would have gotten Shiek.

oh yeah that was so weird, we were all calmly walking until that woman started shouting and we all started walking faster and everything got messed up, that woman was so weird, the second she got up to the counter she started shouting "WHERE'S ROSALINA?"

Good to see some success stories in here. Unfortunately for me, it's been snowing like crazy and my dad and uncle took the only car we have to work on a house so I'm unable to go out and hunt for Rosie. I'm a little disappointed but what are you gonna do. I'm happy for those that got one (or more) and wish good luck to those still out trying.

Well Meta Knight is a retailer exclusive, and Best Buy at that, so that will likely be near impossible for a while. And I have a hunch DeDeDe is going to be hard to come by as well.

So just a question on Hyrule Warriors Link/Toon Link usage.
Do we need to scan the amiibo every time to use the Spinner, or is it a one time thing for permanent use?
Assuming the latter, does Link/Toon Link have any further use?

Salt melts snails, what melts scalpers?

1 per customer policies and Nintendo not under-supplying. :P
Wonderfully said, sir.

I got 2 spare Rosalinas and a free Yoshi, due to some douche who apparently impersonated me and got the people at the front registers to sell them the Sheik I had on hold in the line when they called out for it. What an ass, but hey, the supervisor hooked me up, so I can't complain. Pretty sure Yoshi is becoming rarer, so I'm not opening it (especially since I have it, anyways.)

Before I left, they announced they only had 2 left, and there was a looong line. Cue that "Jingle All the Way" clip!

Only got there about 5 minutes before open, and it was a small crowd, we all calmly walked to the electronics section for our amiibos. Very calm and civil, it was fantastic. Hope you all had a similar experience (minus the impersonation, of course!)

Seems like outside of Bowser, so far all of Wave 3 has been hard to find. There is just no idea how it will shake out, until we get to Mid Feb or end of Feb and see what stock they actually get. I mean shit, we don't even know if they will get a lot for Ike, let alone Dede.

God, I hope Mega Man and Sonic are abundant, just because they are popular in general.

I got Bowser, Shiek, and Toon Link from BB, but I also preorderd on the site. I had it for in store pickup so I didn't actually check their stock to see if they had any extras.
Ah interesting. Probably not worth checking for a Sheik now that's they've been open for 5+ hours. I'll wait for my GS pre-orders to come in.

Did Best Buy actually have any Wave 3 today? Haven't noticed if anyone mentioned it.

They had very limited quantities of Shiek and Toon Link; and a decent amount of Bowser. That's it though. As with everywhere else, looks like we're looking at phases for Wave 3, like what happened w/ Wave 2.
