Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Other than Bowser, these designs are so much better than their Smash counterparts.

Really? I still think the Smash line has better poses/texture details. Only one I don't agree with is Luigi. Like the new Luigi more.

I guess we'll have to see the final versions in person though (but just eyeing the pics, I like the textures details on Smash line more). Some of are def better poses though.

I have no idea what the problem was, honestly. Just glad I got the 3 that I did, but there was never any issue with limit, because in the terms of agreement, it even states that you can order as many as you'd like.

Gonna check out those links. Thank you. I wish I had 4 ordered, but nope, just the 3. I have one coming from Best Buy, but that one doesn't count because he's staying original blue.

I edited my post to include nin-nin games. They are really fairly priced. But from my experience, they can be slow to get stuff out. And since you need all of these Mega Man's at once to send out to your custom guy. I'm kind of worried about recommending them. Amazon is of course legit, and Play Asia (even though they are a bit more expensive) they are definitely legit. I already got my Meta Knights in 3 days after I ordered.

EDIT: Technically my fiance ordered the Meta Knights. All my money is tied up right now in this stupid surgery Bill. But you get the point.

I prefer the Mario amiibo from Mario Party than the one of Smash. His pose is more attractive and classic to me.

Yep. Glad I only cared about Bowser from the Mario line in Smash or I would've felt ripped when the SM line was announced.

Exception being Yoshi
as he looks stupid in both
.

Kinda wish I didn't drag my feet and miss everything except for Mario, and that's only because I preordered the Mario Party 10 bundle.

Damn, Play-Asia's shipping is pricey for Mega Man. And each figure is already $20? Yeah, I dunno, this doesn't seem good for me. Tried amazon.de, but it's limit of 1, and I know the shipping'll be pricier for just one.

Any other good import sites anyone knows of that has comparable prices to Nippon-Yassan where I could get my other 4 Mega Mans?

I ended up with some extra Rosalina through my contingencies. I'd be interested in trading them for some of the other harder to find ones, if anyone is interested.

Just saw that Nintendoworld has Sonic in stock. Don't really care for Sonic so I'll pass...

Nin-Nin? Lemme go back and check that. Thank you.

Today's been a good day for Amiibo for me. My Lucario shipped and my Metaknight shipped. Now Dedede and Toon Link need to ship and it'll be perfect.

And then the Doc Amiibo will be announced and they'll only make 6 of them and make them exclusive to Walgreens and I won't get my favorite character...

Yep, PlayAsia is the most expensive. But they will also get your shit on time, and they are 100% reliable.

I would just go with Amazon if you don't want to get hosed with cost. Although I think Amazon international can take a week to get to you (Marth did for me, as I picked the cheapest shipping option).

Just be aware that, they might end up taking a weeks or a month to get you them. So if you are okay putting aside your custom project, then Nin-nin is def legit. And hell, maybe they will get them to you on time. I've heard various stories with them. I know for me, they have been slow in the past. But I've yet to have an Amiibo show with them. So no idea.

But again, they do have a re-stock fee if you cancel. Their CS is pretty poor IMO. But they will get your your item (they are legit in that sense).

The new Mario Party amiibos will live or die on their texture quality IMO. If they end up being very glossy how they look in pics, I won't like them. Because some of them look too vanilla for me.

I personally like how Smash line has texture to the cloth, and there is more details going on. I'm not a fan of all the poses they chose (like Luigi's pose in Smash is dumb). I'm torn on the Mario Party ones. Because while I do like the pose more on a few of them, I just do not like the way they look perse.

Like the actual textures etc.

Special shop called Tap Plastics.

http://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/plastic_rods_tubes_shapes/clear_acrylic_tubes/141

Need to have the exact measurments though. Have to plan out each row (as like each row behind the next will need to be higher than the one in front). So it requires some effort (need to measure your case width and height, as well as the rows etc.)

Jason is hooking me up next month with enough for all the Smash line. I still think the Acrylic Stairs are prob the best option for most, as they are well priced and already take care of the work for you. With these, you have to have the tubes cut and measured. You have to really graph out your rows with your case measurements. If I didn't have Jason helping me out, I would def not do it lol

Basically, depends on the lengths you are willing to go to pimp out your case. I'll be doing these + some special LED custom strips I'm buying. But that's all I'm going to do. I should just be happy with what I have now, because it looks really really nice (especially in person). But Jason and I are always teaming up off board, so he got me lured in :P

Hmm.. the diameter is 1 and a half inch? It's not too bad since I'm not collecting them all so I guess it's worth considering. Thanks.

Yessss.

Thank you so much! Saved me so much time. Wooo. I can't believe someone had it. :D

Lol. Can't believe you missed our discussion on this last night. I was thinking you were disappointed you lost the file with all the layers and such. But yeah, NeoGAF actually saves a copy of all avatars. Shun actually posted the link last night http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=150227378&postcount=3661
Notice how the image link is NeoGAF itself. So I guess in the future we can be a bit more at ease about accidentally deleting our avatars since GAF has a backup? =P

But I see the shipping method as FedEx 2-3 days, which is surprisingly the cheapest option and the fastest! But you're saying I might not get it 2-3 days afyer the release date? I figured it'd only take weeks or more if I chose a slower shipping method, but you're saying it's very slow regardless?

I went to bed early. And when I woke up I think the thread jumped 20 pages. Didn't read everything. Didn't even know there was a discussion. Ha.

The shipping itself is fast, but they sometimes take forever to get their stock in. Basically, I think they end up taking in more orders then they have. So it can take a while. They 100% won't NOT give you the item. But there are cases of people having to wait 3-4 weeks. So once ur item actually ships, it will only take 2-3 days. It's just them actually filling the order.

You could 100% get it right away. Like Feb 20th, they ship it out 2-3 days. Totally possible. Was just giving you a side warning. As I know you have to get all of these around the same time to get your project done. Would hate for you to get your project on hold, if Nin-nin ends up holding up your order.

If I can just know for sure about Nin-Nin's shipping methods and if you really will get your items within the timeframe of the chosen shipping and the item's release, or if they take even longer and when they finally get to shipping it, it takes the time you chose. Once I know this, I'd be glad to place the order.

Aw man, seriously? That's lame, geez. I wish I didn't have to feel so unsure about Mega Man's availability over here, otherwise I wouldn't be going to all these lengths and paying more just in case.

Anyone that has used Nin-nin games, what was ur experience? Did they actually ship your order on release date? Were they slow filling orders?

I've only read a couple stories. And I myself, have not gotten an Amiibo on release yet through them. So I can't tell you. I just made a post above ^ to see if anyone here can give us their experience with them.

Alright, I'm thinking about giving up my quest for Little Mac :( So if anyone needs an extra Rosalina I'm thinking about selling her at cost + shipping.

If you want to get Little Mac at this point, you're either going to have to pay scalpers' prices on eBay (like I did) or get lucky on craigslist :-/

I really appreciate all your help with this, btw. I'm on the cusp of ordering from Nin-Nin, I'd just like to know more about other's experiences with their shipping.
