Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Well, the Fox and WFT amiibo dream is dead for me. Ugh... this fucking sucks.

I was supposed to receive them in the mail but after a week of them not being here I finally made a claim online and got contacted today by USPS informing that they indeed had been delivered.
So it looks like they were misdelivered and there's pretty much nothing I can do. They just gave me the usual crap about contacting the sender and having them file a report. So fucking bummed. :(
Ah man Frogstep =( I saw a WFT in store today, will try and get it for you if it's still there tomorrow and Fox but can't recall if it was there, be willing to ship it to you (from the UK) if all goes well and it's still there tomorrow.

Will PM you for details of I manage.

Hope orders go up for the next wave on Amazon US soon.
I'm one of the assholes who put an order down for Charizard and Wario (who are still up, mind you) just in case. I've only wanted to purchase the characters I play as, so I'm not going to pass up an opportunity to do so.

I will gladly cancel that order when they pop up over here. It would just drive me absolutely mad to not have all of my favorites. If how they're still in stock is anything to notice, I really shouldn't have the most trouble getting my last two characters for the Smash line.

I've already gotten Toad on order for the next set. I love that little guy.

To think, where I able to order my Villager, Kirby & Peach amiibo's mere days before they released, to being here. Kirby and Peach aren't at all rare (quite the opposite), but I got super lucky to get Villager the way I did.

Not sure if this has been talked about already, but according to a Best Buy employee on reddit, sonic and meta will be shipping there tomorrow. Still no release date for them yet though, so they don't know when they will be allowed to start selling them.

Man, if you are able to, you would be a hero. Let us know. Hopefully someone else in the community might have these two as extras. Maybe we can hook him up? This story is legit fucked up. USPS just fucked him over. Wow. Just wow.

Heard about Meta, not about Sonic. I ONLY need Sonic and Mega Man to finish my Wave 3. So I'm super on edge trying to get Sonic and Mega Man.

Did you see my post earlier? Amazon UK has Fox for £10.99 (if you don't mind the packaging)

Yup! I'm already considering just doing this but no funds at the moment to pull the trigger. D:

Damn I'm so sorry! Had I known you had mailing issues I would have mailed it with insurance and signature confirmation.... I wish i had another WFT to send you

It's not at all your fault. I actually haven't had any mailing issues in a really long time, think maybe about 2 years since my last misdelivery. So naturally this had to happen, lol. :(

That would be so amazing. Thank you! And everyone for caring enough to give me alternatives! You guys are the best <3

Reading that just made me realize that earlier that when I was checking the price and tried placing some into my cart that there was no limit. Did anyone order 100 on here? Seriously though... how is it possible that we're on wave 4 and retailers still don't understand that they need to put a stupid limit on these things. And no not a limit for a single order and then let them constantly re-order. I heard Future Shop last night allowed people to just check out another Rosalina every 5 seconds last night. Is that true (I'm not Canadian so I've never shopped with Future Shop before. Just read it somewhere)
That's because this hadn't really been a problem in Europe yet. It wasn't until wave 3B and now wave 4 that pre-orders sold out extremely fast (and especially so for wave 4)

All this angry talk of importing and stock limitations makes me feel guilty that I can easily access wave four, with pre-orders for all of them are still live after like two weeks. Only have Lucina and Robin ordered at the moment but I'm really close to just ordering the whole wave as it seems everyone except Charizard and Wario will probably be super rare again.

People over at Reddit bought 5 of each one. But I would say while that is certainly greedy as fuck, Amazon is stupid for not setting limits. I mean, what the fuck is wrong with these companies that they don't have a concept of limits for items being bought. Ridiculous.

I wouldn't say they're stupid. It's their goal to sell as many as possible as fast as possible and they've achieved that. It would be nice of them to limit scalpers but that wouldn't necessarily be in their best interest.

That Rosalina looks gross. Only amiibo I'm interested in from the Mario Party line are Toad and probably Waluigi.

Thanks, man. I'll try to get to GameStop before they open on the 20th, and if that fails, I'll put Nippon-Yassan and Nin-Nin on file. Appreciate the tip -- great avatar, too.
Haha, thanks a lot! It looks so much better than the original I had with a black background, thanks to Mononoke making it transparent instead. I do love Mega Man a whole lot, as you could probably already tell!

Glad I could help you with that info.

Is Marth still rare in the US? There were 2 in the store when I was there, can probably get it for anyone needing him as well in the thread if needs be.

Unfortunately the packages etc might still be handeled by USPS cause I'm using Royal Mail to send it, they do have tracked and signed though, it went well with Niraj. Hopefully it'll go well with Snkfanatic but seems to be stuck at handed over to USPS on the Royal Mail tracking site.

For anyone in NYC The Target store of Harlem still has Rosalina in stock , i would go quickly however i have a feeling it will be sold out soon.

I wonder if it's worth calling tomorrow about it or just to show up even though in the reddit post the guy said not to get your hopes up.

It would though. As that Target letter pointed out, there is NO reason not to limit these. There is no risk because they WILL sell through. Granted they were talking about Rosalina which they are the only seller of, but it still applies here because Amazon knows these things will all sell out.

Why piss off your local buyers? They really should have implemented a limit like Amazon.com has started doing.

Well I learned that Amiibos aren't region locked, so I just picked up Lucario and Rosalina from a Japanese import place. $30 for each kinda sucks, but it beats stressing out trying to find the damn things local. Now to wait and hope my Amazon and GameStop preorders ever fucking ship.

He absolutely is rare in the U.S.

I was in a meeting so I'm catching up again, but if this hasn't been answered, frogstep won my contest for WFT.

Oh got ya.

I wonder if it's worth calling tomorrow about it or just to show up even though in the reddit post the guy said not to get your hopes up.

I'm wondering about that too. The system still has a 12-31 date so they probably can't sell them, and BB was actually really good with my Toon Link preorder, so maybe it won't be a repeat of the last few waves with in-store preorders...

Everyone keeps calling them the "Mario Party" line, but I think them coming out with Mario Party 10 is, in a way, coincidental. I get the sneaking feeling that this Super Mario line will become the standard for Mario and the gang, replacing their Smash versions and wind up super common.

I'm more selective about the Mario Party line anyways, not even getting that game.
I think it's considered the general Mario line rather than for Mario Party specifically. I mean the Mario spinoffs all use the same library of models.

(old pic)

This is why I chose to get the Smash Wario as I can bet with 100% certainty the Mario series one will use his standard attire and I'm sure a Wario Ware series of Amiibos is unlikely (though I'd be really happy if one was made).

I wouldn't say they're stupid. It's their goal to sell as many as possible as fast as possible and they've achieved that. It would be nice of them to limit scalpers but that wouldn't necessarily be in their best interest.

When the demand is that high though, they know they will sell out. So it's in their best interest to make sure customers feel they were treated fairly. That's why you adapt to certain things (like certain Toys becoming in high demand).

I agree with you in a very basic sense, the goal is to sell all your stock. Without knowing what demand is, you would be crazy to set a limit to how many someone can buy. Ultimately, even if if it's only ONE person buying all of it, they are still getting paid. Who cares where the money comes from.

But in cases likes this, they should know what the demand is. Since Amazon is a major international online/warehouse company, I don't know how feasible it is to implement a 1 per customer, since no where on the site do they do that. Whereas Retail stores CAN implement it -- and should (as did Target with Rosie).

So maybe stupid is the wrong word to use. Really, I was just saying the guy shouldn't be raging out at the people that bought it, and should instead ask why companies aren't implementing 1 per customer. Why they aren't setting limits. Customers are only buying what they are allowed to. In the case of Amazon, maybe it's not feasible or again, realistic to have customer limits. So yeah.

Still, I think his anger was misguided and should have been directed at Nintendo for choking supply on purpose, and retailers for not setting limits/policies, rather then getting mad at people for buying what they could.

I hate how they're saying that if you missed out on the Super Smash Bros Rosalina you'll just be able to buy the Mario Party one. They're not the same thing and the Super Smash Bros one if way better in my opinion (both look cool though). No reason to not have both.

I think Nintendo may allocate the most obscure characters to the final wave, and make it online only? (Which retailer would let R.O.B. take up shelf space?)

Wave 5 - Dr Mario, Bowser Jr, Greninja, Jigglypuff, ZSS
Wave E - R.O.B., Dark Pit, Duck Hunt, Ganondorf, Game & Watch

That's because this hadn't really been a problem in Europe yet. It wasn't until wave 3B and now wave 4 that pre-orders sold out extremely fast (and especially so for wave 4)
Ahh. Still say they should do it as a precaution.

My boyfriend just exclaimed "NO" loudly because he knows I will have to have it. lol
I just really love Rosalina :(
Lol. If I had a girlfriend that wanted Rosalina, I'd be a very happy man.

Funny, I was literally saying this is a 100% certainty moments ago in the FigureGAF thread. But yeah, called this the moment the Mario Party 10 trailer was first shown.

Waiting for the more important princess, Daisy, anyway.
Remember... The source us pretty random. Though one should expect it to likely come.

I agree with you , The Super Mario series appear to be the default amiibo that are meant to be neutral rather than connected to one series like the Super Smash Series , i would honestly be very surprised if these end up as limited as the Smash series.

Thank god I like R.O.B., I guess it will be easy to get him.

Shelves space is not even an issue anymore since most figures don't even have time to end up on the shelves.

They should just ship the whole thing to Amazon.

Dang, this thread moves fast within an hour, especially when I have class.

Yeah, I think this is what'll happen. & I call them the Super Mario line because that's what Nintendo calls them & I'm sure they'll make characters like Mario, Peach, etc. be more useful in the future. Once the Wave 1 & 2 commons finally sell out, they'll be replaced with the Super Mario line.

Any retailer that gets R.O.B. will have a line of people waiting to buy him.

Yeah, the Amiibos themselves are 100% the same. The figurines are 1:1 the same. How they interact with software is 100% the same.

The only difference is the box. Japan has japanese text on their box. EU has the Characters Roster # on the top right corner and some other text, NA just have 6 + So outside of the box differences, there is no difference.

I can vouch that Jason is 100% legit. He's sent me over 6 Amiibos now through USPS and none of them had had issues. USPS really fucked up badly here. I can't believe this. Maybe we can get someone here to donate WFT and Fox to you?

Yeah my other 5 packages to the winners were delivered fine. I have tracking to everyone too. I guess the tracking says it was delivered but most likely a problem of theft (prob a damn shady neighbor) or an incompetent USPS worker

It is feasible though because the system is already in place. Amazon US does place limits on certain things, just like they did with toad. I was only able to buy two. The UK website uses the same system so they would just need to activate the feature I would assume
