Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Looks like I'll have an extra Sheik. If anyone is interested, I will sell at cost. If not, back to TRU it goes!

The responses are immature. If you feel so offended, then go ahead and stop buying.

Really. Amazing how small the world seems when you think you're appealing directly to the man.

Did Nintendo really screw us over? Yep. But that's okay. Because these are just things in the long run, and there are things way more important that deserve our time.

There's a way to appeal to corporations and companies, and ridiculous tweets just aren't it. Doesn't accomplish much for Nintendo at least.

Your way of thinking is so flawed. You remind me of the people that used to email me when running operation rainfall saying the games will never come, we were waiting our time, and just shut up and enjoy Mario. Also got to love your "they're just things" argument. It's exactly the same as "It's just video games. Do something productive with your life!"

There is nothing wrong with voicing your unhappiness with a company as a consumer. If anything, the company should appreciate feedback so they can better meet their customer's needs.

Their twitter account is public so they know people will be tweeting to them. I agree that some of those tweets are immature sure, but you have a lot of annoyed people letting Nintendo know they are unhappy. I guess they should just shut up and be happy with their Mario amiibo, according to you.

No. I don't think people will stop doing it. That's not the point.

I'm saying it's just not effective or something that will lead to results.

And you're taking it my statement out of context. I wouldn't be on GAF if I didn't enjoy games, much less posting in this thread if I didn't like amiibos. The idea of collecting is enjoyable, but publicly posting angry, childish rants to a company says more about the place of the things in a person's life than it helps the situation, right?

I agree that we can voice displeasure. But those responses on Twitter are just indicative of a culture of entitlement, where we idolize our items and sometimes forget to rationally contextualize their importance. I'm a fan, and amiibos are a welcome presence in my home. But it's not worth it, you know?

I would never discourage hope or optimism towards wanting something. But life is a grand journey, and tweeting to a company in that way is really, really, really low on the totem pole of what could be accomplished in that moment.

Sorry if my comments seemed hateful.

The responses to that tweet are so great.

So much salt.

I almost feel as though being an early Amiibo enthusiast is like some sort of special club. Everyone else feels like they missed the boat and is scrambling to find things and I've had preorders since November. I have Amiibos I'm looking for things to do with, rather than looking at features I need to find Amiibo for.

Wave 4 though, this'll be a massacre. Can't even get a Toad from the Mario line.

When this thread suddenly jumps 20 pages in an hour you will know they have been up :P
I know that starmen.net is going to buy them out entirely but I like to entertain the notion that I might have a chance, y'know? You gotta keep hope alive.

They're 10 second tweets that random people are anonymously posting on their phone. You're analyzing this way too much.

Yeah, perhaps. I also think those anonymous accounts are a product of that divide between the public/private life, but that's another issue.

Just not really productive or helpful when dealing with Nintendo, so I wonder what motive those people have. That's all.

I wish you the best of luck. Hopefully retailers put a 1 per customer limit on them

Shulk was available for preorder the longest of all exclusives, along with Meta Knight, so I´m kinda worried if they are going to be able to honor ALL of them.

Looks like I might be losing all my orders of Rosalina in Canada, like Futureshop overselling. I guess that I will end up with a NA King Dedede, Lucario, MetaKnight, Megaman(if he becomes rare) and even possibly Shulk to trade for a NA Rosalina. This makes me want to just give up on Amiibo and sell them all...

You do make some good points. Honestly though, it's a culmination. People in NA in particular are tired of being treated in an inferior matter from Japan or Europe. It started with games not getting localized, and now people are upset that the amiibos are a mess here. Think about this. When was the last time you could purchase Wii fit trainer anywhere online in the US? December 15th maybe? You can buy one right now on both Amazon.de and Amazon.it. They are restocking them.

It's like they aren't even trying in NA. And we also have to deal with this exclusive nonsense. Target isn't going to resupply Rosalina according to recent rumors? Really? If you didn't preorder Shulk you are pretty much out of luck. Again, really?

People are upset. You can't look at it as a single thing, you have to look at the big picture. It's all ridiculous especially when you consider amiibo interest is highest in NA. It's where they would sell the most, you know if they actually sold them here.

i went to gamestop and the lady was like nah brah you can't pay off your online pre orders, you gotta pay them off when we actually get the stock. :( what a waste of my time, its freezing outside too lol. also asked if she knows when they gonna get it and she said no one knows, they haven't gotten any emails or shit about wave 3 amiibos excluding bowser(which they had in stock)

I would be more than happy to trade you a Rosalina for a NA version of Shulk, let me know.

Someone told me that too when I went in to do the same and it is incorrect. I went back again another day and asked a different person and I was able to pay off the preorders just fine. You should have just given them the phone number you used to make that pre-order and ask them to check that way and they would have come up (as long as it has been 24-48 hours since you made the ship-to-store preorder I believe). They especially should be there if your online order changed to "closed"

I know these are just XL's and not NEW, but why can't we get awesome color combos like this in NA? I'd actually want that teal and black one even more than the MM one! Mmmm, would look great with my Kingdom Hearts faceplates too.

Because NoA is truly unoriginal and behind the times... They'll catch up someday, though (I hope :( )

its in the system, she found it no problem. she just refused to let me pay for it. I know it was bs since everyone here has been doing that and folks here are even insisting on doing so that way your pre order is safe. I told her that and she was like nah idk what to tell you, I can't do that.

Lady doesn't know jack, I work there and tons of people paid off their in store pick up orders.

Also because of that lady unless you have money on them already you may be screwed, we were told to call Gamestop.com in store pickup customers once if they have no money down and if they do not answer to instantly cancel their order and either put it on the floor or sell it to a different preorderer if we don't have enough

So please please call Corporate and complain because employees like that are useless turds

Tell her "Nah, you totally can - get your manager to drive out please. I'll wait." Or call corporate and complain. Or hell, both...

There is enough stress going around with these darn Amiibo - dealing with incompetent employees shouldn't be an added hurdle.

Wow, I'm glad mine are paid off then. Good to know for future orders.

It isn't for typical GameStop.com in store pickups, usually we hold for the 48 hours. Amiibo are just a mess and you have scalpers using in store pick up so we were basically told to call and nuke them if no answer because of that

"Oh, Nintendo are actually making use of an Amiibo? Yeah fuck those guys!"

it's real shitty to announce uses for amiibos that are already unobtainable unless they're going to make more like Marth. Or lock such a character as a retailer exclusive.

Wait, seriously? What about the ones that haven't released yet? Would they cancel those if you haven't yet paid in full?

You just need your phone number, really. The pre-order is in their system as just a regular pre-order, I think. They just have to look you up. You might not even need to mention it's an online order.

Your avatar... if I look real quick I keep thinking it's Sheldon from Big Bany Theory.
But after closer examination, is that Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow??
Same actor (John Barrowman) different character (Jack Harkness from Doctor Who/Torchwood).

Email updates from Amazon on Wave 3 (finally):
Toon Link - Shipped
Sheik - est. delivery date Feb 11th
Mega Man - "Attempting to Locate"??? (Had to confirm I didn't want the order canceled by March 6th)

Now if only GS had the courtesy to let me know where my Shulks were...

haha that was most likely my mistake when i went. i recall other people saying gamestop couldn't find their order cause they did it online and that they had to check another computer or some shit so it was the first thing i told her and then thats when she was like nah.
