Well for what it's worth, I went to four other stores. Those 9 Sheiks were the only ones in any store. So she's not impossible to find, but I wouldn't call her easy to find yet. Don't necessarily get your money back just yet.
Well it depends on what kind of information you want. The way I list it is a good way to see which Amiibos give the most value from a functionality perspective. The way you propose is a good way to see which games use the most Amiibos.

CANADIAN AMIIBO UPDATE
Future Shop may get in or finally start selling Toon Link, Shiek and Bowser today. So check in on that. Many stores have slowly been getting stock of them. They also announced on Twitter yesterday that their online pre-orders for Meta Knight will be shipping out early next week, along with the confirmation that all Meta Knights are for pre-orders only, no first come/first serve Meta Knights will be available.
EB Games got Rosalina in store this week, but if your local store(s) didn't then it could show up today. She showed up yesterday and they got ONE. Their Twitter confirmed today that Mega Man and Sonic will be available for pick up in store on Monday February 9th, no extras for non-preorders.
Toys R Us had all of Wave 3 and Rosalina in store on Tuesday, so if your location didn't get them in yet then you should check again today as some stores held back their Wave 3 stock for the Lucario launch that occured today. He is now sold out online but the rest of Wave 3 is supposed to go up on their website at sometime today.

It's not worth it unless you live within an hour of there when they randomly receive a new character. They haven't regularly stocked anything rare in a long time.

Don't bother, anything rare they get sells out as soon as word gets out. You'd have to have exact luck and timing when they get a shipment
I agree, but I already have him. Was hoping for a Sheik and lucy for 2/$20. I can dream right?

I do live within an hour of there (by train), but after talking to some of my friends who saw the large lines before, it's not worth it in my eyes. Thanks, guys.
I dunno if its NOA or NCL. They have for a while now been acting very poorly. :/

Is it really true, though? I straight-up asked two employees about it last night when I preordered Toad and Luigi, and they said they'll hold it for 48 hours regardless of whether money was put down on the preorder.
...I put $5 on each Amiibo anyway, just to be safe.

Got my Toon Link from Target.com today. He's absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to unlock some spinner action in Hyrule Warriors.
These weren't supposed to come out until the end of January. They weren't a month late. I didn't like how TRU handled preorders at all (with cancellations) but not really an accurate complaint on your part

Meta Knight is supposed to look like that, my Japanese version is the exact same. I love the look of his armor, reminds me of my NECA 18" Gypsy Danger. The attention to detail is great, not sure why people are complaining.

When I saw Sonics start shipping from Amazon US and people getting their shipping estimates updated from March to Feb (followed by immediate shipping), I figured I'd ask about mine which has been stuck as 'Not yet shipped' with no estimate. Chat agent said there was an issue with the order, and said that changing payment method would fix it (despite being paid off in gift cards), and said they'd see to it within 24 hours. Later that night I decided to find a second opinion and got a support agent that assured me my order would be processed and I'd have it within 24-48 hours. I asked how they were sure and they assured me they would not lie, they'd never break a promise, or something to that extent.
Late the next day; Not yet shipped. Read that Amazon agents stated to others that they shipped out their entire supply. Contacted an agent inquiring if I'd still be getting mine as I was given that assurance yesterday, was told it was a mistake and was given $13 credit. Now I sit on my possibly bugged order and pray toysrus doesn't cancel my backup for the 4th time.
Not mentioned: The agony of finding good chat agents. Had one that told me to cancel my order, one that said I could order Bowser instead, and one that made me wait 5-10 minutes to tell me Yoshi's Wooly World isn't released (and after I corrected them, another long wait to tell me "the game" hasn't arrived to their warehouse yet). Maddening.
