She has female proportions, taped breasts, a female voice, and is a female in disguised trained by a race of people who we've never seen a male version of, and may as well not even exist as far as we know.

Plus Nintendo themselves said Sheik is a girl.

I guess in a world of androgynous anime men that happens all the time... maybe, but I never saw Sheik as anything more than female after finding out who she was under the turban (which for me was also finding out that Sheik was a character that existed, since Melee was my introduction to her as a character)

Toon Link, Lucario and Bowser have all been delivered and are at my parent's house waiting to be picked up by me. I should have them in my possession tomorrow, woo.

i was always under the impression that zelda=sheik and zelda=girl so therefore....not sure where people got mixed up in that.

people making things way more complicated than they actually are. i never got the idea she actually turns into a dude physically.

See you guys are logical. There are alot of people who aren't and assumed that it was spell changing her into a male sheikah. While what actually happens is that Nintendo needed a safe way for her to change clothes
IE no nudity and inability to make proper animation to remove the mask
so people guessed and the internet got filled with this rumor.

I never grew up with anybody that liked Zelda until that changed recently(about a year ago?). So I guess that's probably why.

So are you also going for the Mario series line of figures with their alternate Bowser ver.?

Nah one of each. One bowser. one mario, etc. I'm going to mix them up.

Smash Bowser
Smash Mario
SMB Luigi
Yoshi?????
TOAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I would get SMB Princess but I already have the derpy one.

Did they just murder someone? Looks like blood

Cool that you got Sonic already

I never thought so either however I thought when she's disguised as shiek she does so under the guise of being a male.

The game characters also recognize Shiek as a male - so the viewer is to assume shiek is a male.

No shit it's Zelda in a disguise. However, Zeldas sole purpose is to portray herself as a man to not be recognized as Gannondorf. Just like people who do drag I suppose we know their men in dresses but for that time period their associating themselves as a female.

It's not complicated it's just people's opinions I don't know why their has to be a definitive no this is it!

you're right its not complicated at all. it isnt opinion that sheik is a male. zelda portraying herself as a man does not change her gender. it is definitive fact (as confirmed by nintendo themselves) that sheik is a woman.

That's just Sonic's shoe reflecting off the marble countertop.

And Yes. yes he did. He spent all of lv 30-50 leveling up and "murdering" P'Chez (Peach) I can't stand her.

tell that to transgendered people

Sheik should be referred to as a man

doing my usual check in to see if Wave 4 is up for preorder in the US and noooooooooope. It would save me so much time and stress if I could just get that locked down. Come on BB do it

Sheik should be referred to as a man

Except Zelda is not disguised as Sheik for sexual indentity purposes. She is doing it to hide from Ganondorf. She doesn't identify with herself as a man, she just doesn't want anyone to know where she is.

She's not dressing like a man she's dressing in disguise. Nintendo didn't make a cross dressing transgender character, wtf?

Holy shit this thread derails so far. I wish there was a separate thread for actual updates. I wish I was Canadian ;-;

Toon Link and Sheik should be here Monday, as far as DDD, Ike and my 2 Megamen, according to the delay email I got......lord knows when.

Thanks, Amazon.

Not to mention I haven't heard a PEEP from Best Buy concering the caped crusader.

Personally, I always referred to Sheik as a "he" in keeping with the persona's role as an undercover identity. Sheik is a fictional character Zelda creates and plays, and that character is a male.

So my local Target apparently had Megaman, Ike, Sonic, and King Dedede... Shows in their systems that they've actually been sold in-stores.

Really making me anxious about my Gamestop pre-orders. If they have them already, and have SOLD them already, why can't I pick up the ones I paid for in full months ago...

Can we all agree that the disguise Zelda created was male, and therefore it is not incorrect to refer to Sheik as male or female because the character is in fact both at the same time. Honestly let people call him/her what they want. How about them amiibos?

This is the only counter argument that is fair. Sheik is a character being played by Zelda, but it's still a girl and it's only for espionage purpose.

Ah, the wonderful arbitrary, semantic argument that is Sheik's gender.

For what it's worth, my 2 cents: the identity that is Sheik is male, however that identity is a mere mask for the female character of Zelda to hide behind. Whether Zelda uses magic to don said "mask" and physically alter herself or simply uses more traditional methods of disguise is irrelevant to either point. Further, Zelda herself does not identify as male, so any use of transgender comparisons are moot.

Given that, any case for the use of either set of gendered pronouns is arbitrary, so just use whatever the hell makes you happy and forget about it.

Zelda uses magic to change her body structure to that of a man. She's not just a woman under some armor and bandages. She goes from an hourglass figure without much musculature:

to an inverted triangle figure with bulging muscles:

Her female body becomes a male body.

The people who created the character say she's a woman...

That character is officially and canonically female.

Those images aren't meant to be taken so literally, Sheik was drawn like that to throw the player off too.

Nintendo said themselves, Sheik is just a girl. No magic, no physical changes. It's Zelda. They made the game, they made the character, they know.

That happened to me too, with Megaman at least. It's what made me just order Ike from Amazon UK. Might not mean Gamestop got theirs yet though.

US?

wtf? yes, that totally makes that spiderman a she.

Sure, *THAT* costumed spider-man has a girl inside, but the comic book character spider-man does not change gender as soon as a girl cosplays him.

So yes, zelda wearing a sheik costume is a she, but the person she is pretending to be, the imaginary 'sheik' is clearly designed to help her impersonate a man so that she can still help without revealing that she is truly Zelda.

So yes, the Sheik Amiibo is a she, because it's zelda in a sheik costume. But the gender of the 'imaginary' sheik is probably male.

I always refered to Sheik as a girl the second I found out her identity. The muscles however, well...maybe she's a fan of the WWE. (Chyna era, not these makeup clad bimbos we have today)

That character is officially and canonically female.

That's great, and Nintendo says a lot of things, which often get totally changed the next time someone is interviewed. See: Koopa Kids.

My own impression simply follows how Sheik is used within the games themselves, in dialog, cut scenes, etc. In the actual stories, it's a disguise to look like a ninja guy. So that's how I see Sheik.

Zelda went Sarah Connor-style.

No, she's just in disguise, she doesn't literally change her body and become a male. Nintendo has officially clarified this (honestly not that they needed to, it was obvious). Sheik is not a male, it is a disguise.

Different colored eyes. It's a different person/form.
